Default how to turn tablet drawings into animations?

I I guess this would qualify as digital art as I drew some anime characters on my tablet and now its on my computer.

I just wanted to know how could you animate a drawing when its on your computer? I know you obviously normally need to draw lots of other frames of the character and put them together when you draw art normally and want to do an animation, but is there a method which you can use with characters drawn on a computer where you can animate them but without having to re-draw the character over and over doing different positions to create the animation? (which would take forever) is there any new methods out there which allow you to animate something without having to re-draw the character over and over is basically what I am asking.

Cool forum by the way! I have been looking at some peoples work and I must say there is some real talent here.

    1. Re-draw the character over and over
    2. You can probably get a 3D program but will likely have to use their own model.

There are several commercial programs that help you make animated videos but as @blueangel06661 stated, you will likely need to use the program's resources or models to make such.

Or you could try making animated GIF using GIF making software or photo editing programs such as GIMP or Photoshop, but again you will need several images to make one up.

So from what I can gather it can't be done unless you are using a 3d type model from a program like daz or poser? if you are trying to animate drawings you have scanned or made from a drawing tablet then you really have no choice but to keep drawing new frames which takes forever. Ah that sucks was hoping by now there would be some type of way a program could understand lines etc on your drawing on your computer to the point where you could select parts of the drawing to be able to move to create animations but I guess we are a long way off that type of technology yet.

There's a program which lets you do this. I think it's called Animestudio, if I remember correctly.

Well it doesn't have to be a 3D type model, neither a paid program, you can edit your drawings using graphics software instead of redrawing or you could start from a scratch in those softwares.

You could also do Flash animation which is relatively easy to do.

Can you explain more on how it works when you say you can edit your drawings using graphics software. If I was to have a character do a karate kick for example how could I animate it so the kick would be in the air and? bear in mind the whole body would be moving so its not a simple case of just erasing and putting the leg higher up or something.

How would graphics software know what to move for animations?
