I can't speak for rabbits, but as a Wolf Therian, there are some sexual aspects to it, but only because being a Therian helps to define who I am (and sex is a part of it). Because of this, being a Therian adds to my sexual orientation, but it doesn't define it; it might help to explain why I am attracted to certain people (and in certain ways) and how I express my sexuality, but defining myself as a Therian is about my mentality as a whole, not one aspect of it (like sex).

Congratulations! Good luck beyond college in these days, but even if things are hard at first you'll still have that degree.

As for the therian thing, am I understanding you right in that you aren't sexually interested in wolves or furries, just maybe a human partner that will nip your ear or something?

Pretty much, yeah.

I'm not sexually attracted to wolves. I could be attracted to a furry (sticking to the broad definition of one), but considering that I'm not keen on dressing up myself, it might not happen.

Which has been my experience with furries. I have actually never met a furry in a full fursuit. Among my furry friends, it has never gone beyond a tail and the occasional hat.

I certainly could be attracted to a furry, since the definition is actually quite broad (I'm also a furry), however, of the furries that I know, they all dress up (albeit in a small way) and some of them have had girlfriends who also dress up. So it depends.

Seems like it ought to imply crossing some sort of threshold. Do you know if other furries have some sort of the threshold where they'd tell others that they aren't really a furry or something like that?

I suppose it might be more when it becomes something that isn't a 'one-off' (i.e. they find they only like Thundercats and don't really take interest in anything else, don't role-play, don't find the random online art interesting, etc).

It's when it becomes something of a repeat occurrence, I'd guess.

Then again, I went about 22 years of my life not thinking I was a furry, but instead that I just "like the sonic the hedgehog cartoons, like drawing comics with foxes in it, like role-playing with anthropomorphic characters, like some of the random art, etc, etc." Eventually I just sat there and just asked myself the question and ... yeah. My point about it occurring repeatedly over a long period of time. That's what I think, anyway.

I still don't consider myself -that much- of one. I like -some- of the art. I role-play. I'd draw, but I can't draw any more. I've watched a few cartoons and anime that were blatantly furry cartoons/anime. I don't really go any further than that as far as the whole stereotyping thing does.

I guess I'm in the same boat as you, granted I don't really draw. I do like a lot of the art, and in many of the stories I've created my characters tend to be anthropomorphic by trying into werewolves or other like beasts. Though at times I also try to the opposite by showing the natural animal instincts in humanoids. I don't really call myself a furry, but I guess someone could lump me into that group. I know my dad's really gotten deep into the stuff. I doubt he'll put on the fur suit either. Though I do believe that some furries don't go so far as a complete fur suit, but they'll wear fur paws on their hands and feet and maybe a collar, some ears, or a tail.

True, although the definition of furry remains incredibly broad. A furry is someone who is a fan of anthropomorphic animals. That's the definition. But as anyone can guess, this includes A LOT of people. Hell, recognizing anthropomorphic animal characters as a genre isn't recent; the term "funny animal" was used to describe this back in the 1920s. And sticking to the broad definition of "furry" would include anyone who was a fan of any anthropomorphic animal character from Bugs Bunny and Yogi Bear to TMNT and Street Sharks.

I think that in order for one to be a furry, I think that one has to do what Ranshiin did and ask themselves if they are one. Because, at the end of the day, the furry fandom is a subculture (and a broad one at that) where admission is dependent upon whether someone whether acknowledges their membership or not. This is the same for any subculture.

Well, as I said, the furry fandom is mostly dependent on whether people want to call themselves furries or not, since the definition of the word "furry" is incredibly broad.

For example, since I draw anthropomorphic animals (its almost exclusively what I draw) and occasionally dress up as a wolf, I could easily be a furry. However, since I recognize a more spiritual and mental connection to wolves (versus role-playing as one), I call myself a Therian.

I guess some might define me as a furry, considering that I've been a "Neukifly" for the most part on AF, use "Pokemon language" every now and then, and have an interest in drawing anthropomorphic animals.

However, my interest in anthropomorphic animals (or rather, anthropomorphic art) is but a small part of my overall interest in the unusual, extreme and exotic--which is to say that I'm as much (if not more) interested in mutants and aliens (which in artistic representations, tend to have a humanoid appearance)--so personally I wouldn't define myself as a furry, or at least, not a dedicated one.

I do enjoy roleplaying though, and when it comes to roleplaying, I'm willing to take on the role of any character whose profile interests me; it doesn't concern me that the character to be portrayed is either a guy, girl, alien, mutant, or indeed, that which may qualify me as a furry, just so long as the profile permits the opportunity for good drama.

As to what I personally think of furries, well, I'd sooner respect someone whom is not afraid to express themself (e.g. a furry) than someone whom acts pretentiously for fear of what some society might think.

Imo, there's nothing wrong with being a fan of anthropomorphic animals (provided that the target subjects are as sentient adults of course), being sexually attracted to anthropomorphic animals, or indeed, having sexual fantasies about anthropomorphic animals; but there's everything wrong with being sexually attracted to prepubescent children, having sexual fantasies about prepubescent children, and worse, forcing prepubescent children into doing sexual acts against their will. This last paragraph is mostly aimed at those who are ignorant of furries and tend to connect their actions to indecent sexual practices, terms of which I will not cite here.
