I don't like the electoral college because it silences half of the voters in nearly every state. It guarantees the state's vote to the majority. A vote for a Democrat in Texas or a Republican in NY is a waste of time. I would like to see a transition to direct election by the people.

I'll stand by what I said about the Confederacy losing - doesn't reflect on us. It was a different generation and a different time. Although many people would love to see the whole thing tried a second time. Myself included.

I need to correct my statement about Michele Bachmann as well. She was born in Iowa. She is running from Minnesota. I jumped on the article because where she was born has no bearing on what she's doing now. I'm fairly sure she will not be president. While I'd love to see Ron Paul or Herman Cain win the White House, it's probably going to be Perry/Romney. Or the other way around. None of the others have any substance. I'm not convinced that Romney has much substance. Perry...I don't know. He certainly has charisma, and is skilled at being a politican. I expect that it will be a case of SSDD no matter who wins, unless it's Paul/Cain.

I'm a Democrat who supports Ron Paul! And if he doesn't win the nomination, then I'll support Obama.

Actually, Paul has a very good chance this time. A lot of his following from 2008 is now 4 years older, meaning they have more money and are more likely to vote. Case in point, he practically tied with Bachmann in the Ames straw poll. The media is no longer able to contain or dismiss his popularity as they did in 2008. "Paul is not viable" is really more of a meme rather than a well founded opinion these days. It's good too, because I want a libertarian president.

I feel all sorts of out of the political loop. Who is Ron Paul? A Libertarian president sounds dandy~

Personally, I think Bachmann is kind of loony. I really don't want her to get the Republican nomination because she will not win. She's been eaten alive by the MSM, and she gives me imma-gonna-lose-so-hard vibes.

Has a area for his stances on most issues. Good videos as well.

And a nice little Facebook link; http://www.facebook.com/ronpaul

Wio; I know a lot of people thinking Paul/Cain.
    Thoughts?

I don't care who Paul would chose so long as it is someone who is competent, not a RINO (i.e. economic conservative), and hasn't been viciously attacked by the MSM.

    That's a very short list.

Well, I don't see every criticism as a vicious attack. I mean, if the media is taking pictures of you with a big sausage you mouth, or looping a gaf like the Howard Dean yell, then you're screwed. There is a certain extent to which you can't fight the media.

Essentially no reason was given as to why Perry would be a poor candidate (not to say there is none, but that it should't simply be assumed there is). So I came up with a phony reason in jest.

    Oh.

Well, here's one: I don't exactly get the sense he's real big on the specific type of religious freedom I find myself partial to, if you know what I mean.
