Is XIII-2 supposed to be coming out at the end of this year?

I remember reading about it a LONG time ago and I had heard two different dates of both fall/winter 2011 and early 2012.

So I am still considering importing XIII-2, because well, I imported XIII so it only makes sense if I do. Another 100 bucks off my wallet this winter...D=

I would be looking forward to Type-0 more if it weren't a handheld game. I'm pretty excited for XIII-2 though, considering I liked the battle system in XIII and it's supposed to be evolved in the sequel.

Just who is Gilgamesh? Plus, new world map and battle details!

Dengeki has a huge eight page feature on Final Fantasy Type-0 this week, filling in many of the blanks from the recent gameplay demonstration. Here's a summary based off our usual source for detailed magazine leaks, Sokuho.

One big mystery cleared up by the magazine is the identity of Gilgamesh. Square Enix revealed over the weekend that a costume based off Type-0's Gilgamesh would be offered as download content for Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy. The only problem: Gilgamesh's appearance in Type-0 had yet to be announced.

Dengeki reveals that Gilgamesh, voiced by Kazuya Nakai, is l'Cie (a term you might remember from FFXIII) who has gained the power of the Genbu crystal but has forgotten its mission. He's apparently huge -- many times the size of the characters.

Gilgamesh is one of the game's giant bosses. You'll face off against many such bosses as you play through the game.

The "Genbu" name is one of the game's four Peristyliums, the others being Suzaku, Byakko and Souryu. These are located in four countries, respectively Lolica, Rebrum, Milites and Concordia.

The Genbu people, who reside in a harsh mountainous terrain, are mostly all soldiers. With the power of the crystal, they strengthen their bodies and cannot easily be defeated by weapons and magic.

Back in Rebrum, the country of the game's main characters, the magazine introduces three playable students and one new NPC. Two of the characters debuted in Jump last week.

Sice
Voice: Miyuki Sawashiro. Weapon: Scythe. Previously shown in Jump. The magazine shows Sice's "Black Hole" move, which was shown during the demo session.
King
Voice: Tomokazu Sugita. Weapon: Dual Guns. Previously shown in Jump. King has a "Power Bullet" ability which can deal major damage to nearby enemies.
Eight
Voice: Miyu Irino. Weapon: Hand-to-Hand Combat. A male student with short red hair. He's not a fan of weapons which take people's lives, so he chooses to fight hand-to-hand. Eight has a special ability which lets you unleash a variety of actions by pressing d-pad keys.
Arecia Al-Rashina
Voice: Atsuko Tanaka. Not one of the playable characters, Arecia is head of Suzaku's magic division and overseas magic development. No one knows when she came to Suzaku. She's viewed somewhat as a sorceress who will do some unbelievable things at times.

On the gameplay front, the magazine provides some first details on the game's world map system, some of which you might have gathered from the recent gameplay session.

The game uses what's referred to as an "Active World Map." Areas of the map will come under attack, with enemy forces invading, and you'll have to take part in the defense. When moving about the map under normal circumstances, you'll get into encounter-based battles.

The magazine mentions one particular type of world map mission. You'll be ordered to take back a city that has been turned into an enemy base. You can take back the city by defeating the enemy troops and their commanders. Do so, and you'll be able to shop for items in the city.

The magazine also sheds a bit of light on a few of the mysterious gameplay systems from the demo session.

During the demo session, we were shown the game's Kill Sight system, where connecting an attack while a red target was displayed would make the enemy die instantly. The game also has "Break Sights." Here, a yellow mark is shown, and while you won't kill the enemy, you can do major damage.

The demo session battles also showed big "S.O." text. This stands for "Special Order." During the mission, you'll get special orders from above. If you clear the special order at the end of the mission, you'll get items and other bonuses. But if you fail, your character will die. You can choose to accept or ignore the orders.

Gilgamesh:

This time, Gilgamesh appears as L'Ciel. He has forgotten the mission given to him, and is on his own rampage. He searches for powerful opponents, appears on battlefields, and challenges his opponents to a showdown to plunder his foes' weapons.


Odin:

The Summon creature Odin is a battle savvy. He has extremely sword powerful skills (*insert fancy Japanese names) that can cause instant KO's. He is also known by the name of his sword, "Zantetsuken" (iron-slashing sword), which is just as sturdy as he is.

In battles, when a foe is charging at you, if you counter at the right moment, you can cause greater damage to the foe. The timing of when you should counterattack is indicated by the lock-on cursor. When the cursor is the red "kill sight/site" (original Japanese is saito, not sure which English word lol, but it's probably not "cite"), you can do an instant KO. When the cursor is the yellow "break sight/site", you can do a critical hit. However, if your kill sight/site fails, you'll have a high probability of receiving heavy damage from your foe.


King:

Wielding his guns with ease, King is all for efficiency and productivity. He doesn't say much, and has a stoic appearance, as if telling others not to approach him. Therefore, not many people are aware of the loneliness hidden deeply inside him

King's regular attacks are performed with his "Handgun", which he holds with his two hands and barrages. With grenades, he can cause high damage to does in close range with his abilities such as "Powered Bullet". When he loads his "Powered Bullet", you can see in the Command box on the bottom right corner "Charge Lv.2"...? (hint?) Also, there's a set maximum number of bullets he can have in his gun, so you need to pay attention to that as well.


Sice:

With rough words and a candid attitude, Sice is somewhat a tomboy. She won't hesitate to point out others' weaknesses, but she has a clear understanding of how to distinguish between good and evil. Following her sense of justice, she wields a scythe even larger than her, and reaps her foes in a swift and cool fashion.

Sice uses her huge scythe to attack. When she fells a foe, she will absorb that foe's grudge, and use it to strengthen her own status (Attack, Defense, Exp, etc.). Also, with her ability such as "Black Hole", she can use a gravity sphere to draw in her foes and immobolize them. Although her weapon is huge, her hits are not necessarily huge. Instead, she waves it lightly, and fights in a speedily.


Eight:

Not with a "weapon" that can easily take another's life, he has chosen to fight with his own fists. He has a great sense of observation, and enough wisdom to allow him to grasp the situation of the battlefield immediately. Strong at his core, he tries to suppress his own emotions, but he does seem he'll make a very sore loser when he loses.

Eight is an expert of physical combat. He confuses his foes with his swift movements, and then overcome them with his "Knuckle" at one rush of his rage. When he's in his gale form (original Japanese shippuu, as in Naruto Shippuuden lol), his skills can be altered with the direction keys. It's an ability that has very high flexibility.


Arecia:

No one knows exactly how long Arecia has been at the magic academy. She focuses on how to discover new and improve existing magics, and is the headmistress of the Peristylium Suzaku Magic Quarters (sorry, I don't know the "official" English translation here...). Although a genius, she seems to exhibit some unexpected behaviors as well.

A "Special Order" you receive from Arecia will be a special instruction that you can receive during your mission. When you open her mail, you must confirm its content within a limited amount of time, and then decide whether or not to accept the challenge. When you accept her orders, you will be able to power up your stats, and when you clear her orders, you will receive awards. However, a failed order will cause the character to faint. High risk, high return. You must think cautiously.

Hope will make a appearance as a character but unknown to the public how. According to the developers some of the old characters (Vanille's and Fang's being obvious as Lightning's goal.) will make some sort of appearance. Though I highly doubt that kid in the above picture is hope, maybe a replacement? Im fairly sure Snow or else he wouldn't let Sarah go with some random dude, would he?

I also think I seen Fang in that video. Though it could have been Noel as the slides switched to fast for me to tell.

That's not Hope, you can tell by it's body that is a girl.

And more stuff will be revealed on E3, same goes with vXIII.

Also, I don't think we will get to use Light from the beginning.

I'm unsure about XIII-2 - the battle system was what I really disliked about XIII, and the only difference here seems to be the ability to control monsters in battle (which is pretty awesome) and SPECIAL ATTACK, PRESS X/A AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN IN QUICKER SUCCESSION THAN USUAL.

It's a real shame, because the exploration and storyline are looking much better.
