Welcome to the eighth version of Wolf! Much props to @
DJ Scruffy ; ideas were all his (well, 90% of them).
How to sign up: Whoever wishes to play, can. The more the merrier. If you wish to play just write something along the lines of, “I want to play.” and you will automatically be added on the player list.
How to play:
Wolf (or Mafia, as it is sometimes called) is played by taking a group of people and making a small number of them into "Wolves" or bad guys. The rest of the players (called "Townies) then spend the "Day Phases" (time during which you play this game) trying to deduce who these bad guys are. During the Day Phase, players vote for who they suspect to be a Wolf. The person with the most votes gets lynched (they "die" and are no longer able to play the game), their role being revealed, before Night Phase begins. During the Night Phase, Wolves decide which player they'd like to kill, while Townies with special roles (more on that later) preform their own actions. The game continues until either all Wolves are dead (which triggers a win for "Townies") or the number of Townies equals the number of Wolves (triggering a "Wolf" win).
Day Phase: During the day time phase, all the players may vote on who they suspect to be the Wolf. It is mandatory to vote in the Day Phases. Be careful; wolves can vote as well, attempting to sway the votes their way...
Night Phase: Each Night Phase is when players with night actions can perform said actions. During this time, Wolves vote on which Townie (Wolves know each other, thus know who the Townies are) they think has a "power role", or an important role in the game.
Note: Each phase will be 24 hours long (this allows those of us outside of the US/who work different hours to play). Day phase will start at
5 PM Central time (UTC−06), ending at 5 PM Central time the next day and triggering the beginning of the Night Phase, which in turn ends at 5 PM Central the next day.
Rules:
- All votes must be in
bold. They will not be counted otherwise.
- You must vote once per Day Phase. Anyone caught not voting on either consecutive Day Phases or three days total will be inactive-killed. Remember, posting does not constitute a vote!
-
Do not post again if you have died until AFTER the entire game is over. Once that happens, then you may post again.
- Do not post during the Night Phase.
- Role-claim (the "art" of telling people that you have a specific role) at your own risk.
-
Do not share any PMs I send you with anyone else! Players being found to do so will be banned from any further Wolf games!
- Arguments and disagreements are the very foundation of Wolf, thus you are encouraged to use them. However, no outright flaming or trolling will be allowed.
- Questions? Comments? Send me a V/PM!
How to win
Town: Kill all Wolves, convert Mercs.
Wolves: Bring number of Town members to the same number as that of the wolves. Mercs never count towards the number of Townies.
Mercenaries: If they can all survive until either team wins, they will win with whichever faction triggered the win condition. If two of them die during the course of the game, the remaining two members become Heroes and can only win with that team.
Deathlok - Wins if he's alive and all of the Mercenaries are dead. Does not effect the Town or Wolves win condition.
Roles
Heroes
Nick Fury – As the ex-director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury still has many powerful contacts. Once per Night Phase, he can ask his contacts the alignment of one player. His info will come back as the checked player being either good or evil. If he happens to check the player controlling The Punisher, he will immediately attempt to arrest him. There is a 50% chance that this will be successful, taking Punisher out of the game, and a 50% chance of Punisher killing Fury.
Peter Parker/Spiderman – Out of his costume, Spiderman is mild-mannered Peter Parker, photographer for Frontline (and previously The Daily Bugle). In his costume, he becomes the hero known as Spiderman. Once per Night Phase, Spiderman can target one player. That player will not be able to preform any Night Actions, should they have any. The same player cannot be targeted twice in succession.
Jean Grey/Phoenix – One of the charter members of Professor Xavier's X-Men, Jean Grey is one of the most powerful psychics in the Marvel Universe. However, all that power comes with a price. If she is killed during any Night Phase, she will lose herself in her power and become Dark Phoenix, joining the Wolves.
Captain America/Steve Rodgers – As a champion of the American Dream, Steve Rodgers has stood for justice ever since World War II. Although he is older now, his shield is still as powerful as ever. Once per Night Phase, he can choose one person to watch over. That player cannot be killed, and whoever attempted to kill them has a 30% chance of dying themselves.
Thor – As the son of the All-Father, Odin, Thor is functionally immortal. As such, he cannot be killed during the Night Phase. However, he will leave if lynched during the Day Phase.
James “Logan” Howlett/Wolverine – The best at what he does, Wolverine has been alive for over a century. Through his role in the X-Men, Logan has fallen in love with Jean. As such, he will enter a feral rage and kill anyone who kills Jean (or a random member of the Town, if she's lynched).
Bruce Banner/The Hulk – The incredibly brilliant scientist known as Bruce Banner was once the human form of the angry green giant known as The Hulk. Having given up his past life, Bruce has instead concocted two fatal doses of Gamma Radiation. He can use them once per Night Phase. However, if he accidentally kills a Townie, he'll be overcome with grief and lose the ability to use his second dose.
Laura Kinney/X-23 – As a clone of Wolverine, her tactics and abilities are twice as effective when paired with him. As such. if she votes for who Wolverine votes for, the vote counts for double during the Day Phase (So instead of 2 votes it'd be 4).
Tony Stark/Iron Man: One of the most recognizable heroes around, Tony Stark funneled his brilliance into an incredible suit that, when worn, earned Stark the moniker of “Iron Man”. He can use this suit to produce a blinding flash once during the game, during the Night Phase, that cancels all Night Actions. Also, the first time someone attempts to kill him, War Machine will save him, however this can only be used once, as War Machine will die to protect Stark.
Ororo Munroe/Storm – A mutant like fellow X-Men Jean Grey and Wolverine, Ororo's ability to control the weather is almost second-to-none. Once per Night Phase, she can switch two player's identities. Any Night Action that effects her choice will instead effect the other person she chooses. She cannot choose herself as a target.
She-Hulk – As good a lawyer as she is strong, She-Hulk can file an injunction once during the game (during the Day Phase) that will prevent a lynching from taking place. She also knows Bruce Banner.
Elektra Natchios/Elektra – Once, and at any possible time still, a great assassin and bounty hunter, Elektra is the former girlfriend of the hero known as Daredevil. Using her affinity with the organization known as The Hand, Elektra can resurrect one player during the game. Note, this will not work on Thor if he's lynched.
Jamie Madrox/Multiple Man – Yet another mutant, Jamie's ability to create duplicates of himself earned him the nickname Multiple Man. Once during the Night Phase, Jamie will send out some of his clones, or dupes as they're sometimes known, to gather information. He has a 30% chance of learning a random player's alignment, 30% chance of gaining a random power for the duration of the Night Phase, 30% chance of stopping a random player from performing their Night Action, and a 10% chance of having a dupe die, making this power unavailable during the next Night Phase.
Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange - As the former Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange's knowledge of the arcane is second to none when it comes to humans. He also owns a wide variety of magical artifacts, including the Eye of Agamotto. Once per Night, Strange can use the Eye to see who a person interacts with (for example, if the Wolves killed Tim, and Strange used the Eye on a Wolf named John, he would learn that John interacted with Tim). If he uses the eye twice on the same person, he becomes immune to that person's ability. If Doctor Strange is killed, he will use the borrowed Staff of One he is currently in possession of to kill Dormammu (assuming he is still in the game at this time).
Daniel Rand/Iron Fist - Without a doubt, Daniel Rand is one of the best martial artists in a Marvel Universe full of them. As such, few people have a chance of beating him in one-on-one combat. Once per Day Phase, Iron Fist can choose one person. That person will have one less vote count against them, as Rand will keep one of those voters preoccupied during the Phase.
Villains
Victor Von Doom/Dr. Doom – One of the most powerful villains in all of the Marvel Universe, Victor's brilliance is unrivaled, even by industry pioneers such as Reed Richards. As well as serving as the Alpha Wolf and therefore having his vote during both the Night and Day Phases count for two (as well as his Night Phase vote breaking any Wolf ties), but he also has created a device that allows him to check on one player per night, learning that player's full role.
Quentin Beck/Mysterio – As a master of illusion, Mysterio is adapt at appearing as something he's not. As such, if he's ever checked by Nick Fury, he will show as “good”. Anyone else that checks him will get a reading as if he were Spiderman (unless Spiderman is dead, in which case he will be read as another random good character).
Norman Osborn – After having saved the world during the Skrull invasion, Norman Osborn is now seen as a hero. With his own personal team of Avengers doing his bidding, he can prevent one character from using any ability (Day Phase vote, Night Phase vote, Seer attempt, Assassin kill, etc) against him during one Night Phase and the Day Phase that follows it. Can use this ability 3 times during the game, cannot be used against the same person twice in succession.
Loki – The trickster God himself, Loki prefers to cause mischief more than anything. The main target of said mischief is Thor. However, since Thor would be able to sense Loki's magic, Loki has to use someone else to do his bidding. Believing The Hulk is his only real chance at destroying Thor, Loki will have 3 chances to find Bruce. If he does so, he tricks him into transforming into The Hulk, and that Thor is his enemy. Hulk then attacks Thor, and fueled by Loki's magic, kills him.
Dormammu - A being made of pure mystical energy, Dormammu is one of the most powerful entities in the universe. However, due to his frequent bouts with Doctor Strange and Nico Minoru, he has been weakened. His powers are still just as strong in his own Dark Dimension, which allows Dormammu to take one player during the Night Phase into his dimension and kill them. The process takes him two entire Night Phases, and no other player can be taken until the first one is dead, but while in the dimension the target cannot use their Night action nor will their Day Phase vote be counted. Note, even if he is killed, anyone currently in the Dark Dimension will still die after two Night Phases.
Mercenaries
Tony Masters/Taskmaster – Using his ability to mimic any human movement he sees, Taskmaster has become one of, if not the, most formidable fighter in the Marvel Universe. These abilities also translate to voices. Once per Night Phase, he can choose one person to listen in on, not learning anything about them, but if he's checked he will appear as the person he mimicked (or the one out of those he has mimicked that he so chooses to be).
Wade Wilson/Deadpool – Named the “Merc with a Mouth”, Deadpool's mouth almost does as much damage to his opponents as the weapons he uses on them. Once per Night Phase, Deadpool can choose one player to talk to. 40% chance of learning a player's alignment, a 40% chance of learning everything about a player (character name, role), 10% chance of just being unsuccessful, and a 10% chance of accidentally telling the checked player who's controlling Deadpool.
Frank Castle/Punisher – Frank Castle's war on crime is never-ending, and he alone has the heart (or lack thereof) to kill those he suspects are corrupt. Once per Night Phase, The Punisher can attempt to kill one player. He has a 50% chance of being arrested, ending his game, if checked by Fury. He also cannot shoot at the same target twice (if his previous attempt failed for any reason).
Clinton Barton/Hawkeye - Master archer and former thief, Clinton fights crimes as the vigilante known as Hawkeye. He's currently working with the Mercs. Once per Night, Barton can take aim at one player. That arrow has a 30% chance to kill, 30% roleblock the player, a 30% chance to miss and a 10% to not only miss but have the player be alerted as to what Hawkeye's true identity is.
Independent
Deathlok - As an undead android from the future, Deathloks are bound by the code put in their head. This particular Deathlok has been sent back to kill those who "threaten" the distorted future world the Deathloks and their owners call home, namely all of the Mercenaries. Once per Night Phase, Deathlok can attempt to kill one player. However, his programming only allows him to kill those who pose a threat to the future (as those who do not are theoretically already dead), thus it will only work on the Mercs. Although he cannot kill others without provocation, his programming does allow him to defend himself. As such, any player who attempts to kill him at Night has a 50% chance of dying themselves. If at any time during the game all of the Mercenaries are dead and Deathlok is still alive, he will win, and be automatically sent back to the future. This does not effect the Town or Wolf win condition. If a Mercenary at anytime preforms a Night Action on Deathlok, they will immediately be told who he is.
