Should you be the same religion as your parents. What if you don't believe in god should people stop being nice to you. What if your friend tells you that he or she does not believe in god. Would you abandon them or would you stay?


I think for myself that you should hang by that friend. But people should still be nice to you if you don't believe in god. And i also think that you can be whatever religion even if your parents arnt

Should you? No. You should be of whatever religion you feel like. There is no "should" in religion, at least not in a free country.

I am a card carrying SubGenius reverend, but also a Last Thursdayist, and my mother a sort of almost-Christian (she doesn't go to church or that stuff, but gets very edgy if you dare question religion near her), and my father atheist.

Some of my friends dont believe in god, thats fine I respect that, everyone has their reasons. Everyone has their own thoughts about things too, wheither their is a god or not, I believe their is a god and yeah I believe in a heaven too. With me, I respect your thoughts and opinions on anything, just give me that same respect on my thoughts and opinions in return.

But feeling like it and wanting to taking it up is synonymous. For a reference, I don't believe in any of my religions, heck, one of them even openly admits it's a hoax. But that still doesn't stop me from being a follower of "Bob".

Unless you are a devout stoic, believe that feeling like doing somthing (being pathic) is irrational, and wanting something (being eupathic) is pure and born from reason; there really isn't much of a difference between the two.

It's always been my feelings that your religion is your personal relationship with God and no one should dictate your beliefs. I'm friends with people who believe in God and people who don't, its never been an issue.

But I do wish more people would keep it to themselves and make it more private. No one wants or needs someone elses beliefs pushed upon them.

Hey you're right, i was originaly thinking of burning them on pitchforks instead of stakes, and putting red-hot iron horn-helms on their heads for further torture, but they just might uptake the flames, pitchfork and horns as holy symbols. What choice do we have left? Maybe if we kill ourselves, WE'll become martyrs, for doing the job for them!

I seldom talk about my religion with friends. And I could care less what religion they believe in, as long as it doesn't taint their views upon myself. Heck, I'm not even sure if I believe in my religion at all.

Also, you should never ever have to be in the same religion as your parents. Regardless what they'll think of you or what they'll tell you. It's your life and your beliefs. Their axioms are not yours.

The way you think the universe runs you and itself than believe in it but when the Catholic's believed everything revolved around the Earth, Galileo proved them wrong and its a fact today thats not true.

Although I always harboured an innate dislike for religion, after reading Nietszche, I have nothing but the most despicable thoughts towards it.

Should you be the same religion as your parents? No, but too many are. Too many are brainwashed and that is the root cause of their "beliefs." There is something wrong, as Dawkins talks about in The God Delusion, when children are referred to as "Muslim children" or "Christian children" because this has been forced down their throats.. and far be it for your average person to make their own conclusions for themselves.

If one doesn't believe in god, should someone stop being nice to them? To be frank, I don't care. In fact, if someone told me they didn't like me anymore because I'm an athiest, I would be greatful that I was spared a potential friendship with such an ignorant fool.
