Does anyone remember back when learning the names and sprites of all the Pokemon was easier than learning 2,000 kanji?
I'm mostly looking forward to new elements and pokemon. I was never really good at training them so I'm probably gonna use a cheat device if possible ^^"
new news:
http://www.siliconera.com/2010/07/18...white-footage/
White and Black versions confirmed to have different locations depending on the version, and it starts on Route 1
also, best new pokemon:
fixed that for you!
Has anyone seen that Ho-Oh ripoff? My god the lack of originality is amazing. I could come up with a better pokemon in two minutes.
But.... You just stated that it looked like the "the horrible love child of Ho-Oh and Fearow".
How does having legs that look like tree trunks support that theory?
Plus, talk about crappy design, you've got Arceus as a signature. An ugly looking white antelope with a small face. Original as it may be, it still looks stupid. :P

It doesn't support it, but it still does have some rad thunder stumps. Going back to the love child, it also could be some hideous mutant between Pidgeot, Fearow, and Ho-oh. Either way it kind of also looks like Garudamon. And while Arceus may not be your cup of tea, it doesn't look like they tried, and failed, to clone a different pokemon. The 5th generation of pokemon is, as I restate, Flamboyantly hideous~
By the way I don't appreciate your input on my signature.
Well, I still don't see any Ho-oh in there. For the most part, Wooguru looks like any other eagle with the exception of the splashes of extra color. And Garudamon...isn't that a red humanoid bird creature?
Anyway, the moment, I haven't made a decision about the Generation V Pokemon collectively since there are only 30 of them at the moment. If the last generations of Pokemon are anything to go by, we know that there going to be AT LEAST 100 of these guys, so I can't judge from a collective stand point.
However, there are some Pokemon that stand out as either really interesting or really...bad.
This guy is Hihidaruma, the Flaming Pokemon. Obviously a Fire type. Not sure what he is (some weird owl/gorilla...thing), but for some reason, I want it and I want to kick my opponent's butt with it.
This one is Shimama, the Charged Pokemon (umm...duh). An Electric type. Its apparently supposed to be some counter to Girafarig, since its English name is apparently Zebrarbez (also a palindrome), but for reason, it looks like Shinx if a lion like Pokemon could evolve into an electric horse (er, zebra).
This is Gear (no...really; its name is really Gear). The Gear Pokemon (no, really). Steel-type. Umm...nothing else to say.
This is Gochiruzeru, the Celestial Body Pokemon. Umm...yeah. Well, um...what the hell is this?
This is my war face.
This is what happens to trolls who mess with me.
Lol, this again...though it's getting pretty tiring now. Lets see you guys create 600+ Pokemon without any of them looking even remotely similar to another one previously made, unless they're related (and by related I mean pre evolution or evolved forms). Though, even if you did then everyone would still find something to complain about. As far as Wolfgirl90's pokemon there, I think they're not hideously annoying or whatever. The zebra and Gear one look pretty interesting imo. Btw Obsidian, if you haven't noticed all the normal/flying Pokemon have always looked similar to each other. I'm still looking forward to this generation a LOT. I doubt there's anything Nintendo can pull to satisfy my inner fanboy.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not going to buy it. I have better uses for the $38.17 it would cost. Besides most of us "trolls" will say that while the game-play might be the best yet, it won't make up for the fact that the fifth gen looks overzealous, cheap, and, as I restate, flamboyantly hideous!
Gee, and the 4th generation doesn't? I swear, 70% of the 4th gen Pokemon look like complete utter crap. And TBH, only 15% of them are useful for competitive play. And btw, I never said you'd BUY the game. But you'd end up playing it at one point in time.
I'm not really getting riled up, just stating MY opinion. :P
Because I believe that The Pokemon Company hasn't let me down before, so why should they start now? Every time a new generation comes out, it's always "Oh, no! This one's gonna suck!" Then when the games come out, it's always, "It was lacking here, but it's really good!" It's like, blah. People need to be waaay more open-minded.

The 4th gen was pushing it, although while some of it's pokemon were lacking, it wasn't nearly 70%, more like 10%. Just to be fair only 15%-25% of each Gen has been useful competitively. Oh, and just a small FYI, in Arizona you either buy it or never see it till you do.
There are still people who haven't played the 3rd or 4th gen games because they don't like the pokemon in them. For the record it has nothing to do with open-mindedness, it's about the standard of quality we hold, some of our standards are just higher than others'.
If the 6th gen looks like some actual effort was put into it I'll probably get that one, or if not hope for the best in the 7th, and 8th gens.

I understand the challenge that these guys must be facing, however, that doesn't mean that I can't criticize the designs of some of the Pokemon. I mean, I understand the challenges of designing a building; doesn't mean I can't judge it. I understand the challenges of making a movie; doesn't mean I can't judge the movie. I understand the challenges of making a video game; doesn't mean that I can't judge the game.
After 495+ Pokemon, there are bound to be repeats or just plain bad designs. Some of the designs of the new Pokemon I like (e.g Hihidaruma, Wooguru/Wargle, Zoroark, Reshiram) and some I don't like at all (e.g Koromori, Shimama, Meguroko). Just because they have made a bunch of Pokemon doesn't mean that they should get a special pass for treatment. I am going to judge their designs just like everything else. However, the simple fact that I am judging the designs of the Pokemon doesn't mean that I am not going to buy the game (hell yeah I am going to buy the game!!); of all of the features that are in the game (or are going to be), the design of the Pokemon is of my least concern. I may not like Shimama's design, but so long as I can kick my opponent's butt with it, I really don't care.
Of course, if you know that people are going to complain no matter what, why bother complaining about the inevitable complaining?

Let's see you try make 600+ Pokemon? Easy. DON'T DO THEM. It sounds like you're defending them. If you can't come up with a unique concept for your overdone premise, I'm not going to feel bad.
*cough*
When I first looked over the 4th gen's list of pokemon, I was somewhat disappointed, and I thought I wasn't going to enjoy the game as much as I had others.
Since those years ago, I've played both Diamond/Pearl, and Platinum. I have enjoyed them thoroughly.
Now, I'm on board here with the ones that say that the new pokemon look meh. But, you know, I haven't played the game. Don't judge a book by it's cover and all that jazz.
The Brighter the Light the Darker the Shadow
The word "unique" has already lost it's meaning. There's nothing unique about any of the new games coming out, or the ones that have already came out. And as for not making them, they want money just as much as any other company does so "Unique" comes second, money comes first. Besides that you have to realize who they're targeting with this generation. They already know that about 7/10 of the pokemon fans are going to buy these ones, regardless of how "ridiculous" they look. They're aiming this generation of pokemon at the ones that haven't brought it, or don't seem likely to, but his I mean the younger crowd. They see Gear, and they'll think it's the shiny new toy that everyone is gonna have and if they don't then they're not as "cool". So why worry about "unique" when they can simply repackage them and sell them? Though to me, I see nothing that really looks the same as a previous generation pokemon. That bird in particular doesn't look a damn thing like Ho-oh. You can say I'm blinded by fanboyism, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. =P
Because I'm doing research on arguments; It's good practice. And I can't just sit back and watch people badmouth Nintendo! What kind of person would I be? D:Of course, if you know that people are going to complain no matter what, why bother complaining about the inevitable complaining?

Nintendo? I thought they were called the Recyclers now because they can't make a game that doesn't have an already existing franchise attatched to it. There comes a point where you realize people are going to catch on to you trying to take people's money. I can imagine a group of people at Nintendo sitting down and thinking "What situation can we put Mario in now where he has to save the same stupid princess over and over again"?
I wonder how long it took someone to come up with Gear? I have a sketch for a pokemon that looked like a pocket watch and it looks kinda similar. Took about five minutes.
In the end, I just don't like the Pokemon in the 5th gen. While others will try and argue that I'm just here because I hate pokemon, few seem to see that I simply hold different standards for the Pokemon Project and that they just failed to meet them this time around. Besides voiceing my opinion, and backing it up, I hold no grudge against those who are opposed to my point of view. I will also continue to give my input on Pokemon of any gen. simply because it is something I do~
Relatively normal. I love Nintendo. I am a HUGE Nintendo fan. I have played every Nintendo console. My mom had an NES, so it pretty much runs in the family.
However, I still judge them based on both the company itself and their actions. As much as I love them, I will still say that they have not made the best decisions in the past.
As much as people have claimed to have caught on to Nintendo, they are still making huge chunks of money. Sure, Mario saving Princess Peach is a rather tired concept, however, as of July 16, they have sold 1 MILLION COPIES of Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the United States. Its been 27 years since the release of Mario Bros. so if people are going to figure that Nintendo has been releasing the same games, it won't be anytime soon. I mean, what else would Mario be doing OTHER THAN saving Princess Peach? Plus, as much as you complain, when it comes to games of the year, Nintendo usually has at least one on the list from their one of their franchises.

I said to myself I wont buy it, but I probably will. Pokemon has it's way with me!
