Nonon Jakuzure - Best Kill la Kill baePretty damn great! #spoke2soonOta "The Cutest Otaku" 2016 - Lol, how's your account doing lately? Oh wait.
Depends on the game.
Ehhh, I dunno if I'll stick around. We'll see.

I think it's good for your brain.
But of course it's not good to play games like 5 hours straight.
Some video games like DDR are good for excersise. Rockband and Guitar Hero are good for learning a good beat or two. And a lot of games help with reactions
Although the violent games for retarded, immature people would be considered bad...
Video Games exercise your brain probably more than anything. Books give you descriptions of stories while in a video game you are experiencing things first hand.
Video games rot your brain. It's a pretty solid scientific fact. This is why ................................
Bah! There are games now that are made to improve your brain power i.e. Brain Age. Video games often have some element of puzzle solving or logic involved too. My question to those people would be "what part of the experience is provoking the rot?" And I would also have to clarify that they are not just comparing video games to other more brain stimulating activities, then counting the difference as "rot." People are nuts! Why are we all talking to nuts anyway? Are we nuts too? Nuts can talk...?

AM/PM me!
It's mostly Stimulation of the brain, but yeah a good majority of games these days can be helpful to certain areas of the brain, primarily the areas directly impacting hand and eye coordination.
In a study in japan years and years ago (i think mid-90's), they deemed video games could actually lower your brain cell count in a fraction of what smoking marijuana could - so at the time; if you heard about Mortal Kombat on TV, it was on Oprah as she blasted it for two reasons: Influencing Violence, and lowering your brain cells, though she only lightly commented on that study.
The study was later disproved when a study in Sweden proved that video games requiring a higher involvement in concentration of the player (like RPGs or story-driven action games) greatly stimulated the brain cells causing them to actually strengthen areas in reading (obviously), visual-spatial ability, mechanical skills, and a few other areas.(leave it to the Swiss to calm Oprah down, haha.)
All in moderation of course, but i feel video games can impact a child's learning curve greatly if properly monitored and with the right type of games. (Leap frog games are excellent.)
Yes, but only as a defense mechanism. All forms of media are born with this. Keeps its natural predators from becoming credible.
Don't believe me? There was a time when Jack Thompson was a legitimate attourney, and NOW look at him.
I don't think they rot your brain. Maybe certain games with certain ideas..eh..but generally I don't think they do.

Rot? Nah...
Make me not want to do my homework? Yeah, pretty much.
I'm an excellent procrastinator. :/

They have been saying that since I was a little kid. My best friends mom would always tell us that we were rotting our brains while we played video games, and he's a shrink and I'm got a bacelors in automation. So I think we did ok. The big thing I always here is kids are getting overweight because of video games. That one I'm not so sure about.
No, actually. It depends on what kind of game it is.
If it's a game where you do little thinking, then probably. It depends on the content and what the focus of the game is.
If it is a game where you are constantly puzzle solving and developing good hand-eye cooridination, then it might actually help.
Then again, I don't like blaming games for any problems people may have.

As most have said video games help hand eye coordination and with some newer games they help with memory and learning. Also the army uses simulators for training and many view those as expensive realistic video games.
All depends on which studies one prefers to. I've read some that stated that extremely violent games has the tendency to desensitizes people to the point where the person would be more likely to follow through acts that most people would consider extremely violent.
Other studies show that that playing video games are extremely beneficial increasing memory and the individual’s attention span. This particular study was done using people that had ADHD and according to it the genera of game that helped the most was racing games.

I think that they can rot your brain if you play them constantly. However, sometimes they actually improve skills that you may have problems with.
Main example everyone uses: Hand and eye corrdination
"Sometimes I wonder if you remember when I loved you""And sometimes.. I wonder why it's you.. whom I still run to"
i believe the more you experience the more you know thus the more games you experience the better ... its just a game and its fun to play them
i also think too much of a good thing is bad... it becomes repedative, old, stale, and boring
the only way to literaly rot your brain is to die
Meh...I played for 12 hours straight when I'm uber bored and when the game is really amazing. But of course it's not good to play games like 5 hours straight.
Your brain cannot rot since it is not food.Well of course unless it's zombies, then it's food.
i don't think they rot your brain unless you play 12 hours shight a day.
Please, play Gears of War. That game is intended to help you out, not to mention using your reflexes and improving them, but also teaching you normal physics and stuff and actually it makes you think. To be honest.
1.Chuck Norris can divide by zero.2.Chuck Norris counted to infinity, twice.3.Chuck Norris doesn't wear a watch, HE decides what time it is.4. If at first you don't succeed, you're not Chuck Norris.5.When Chuck Norris does a push-up, he isn't lifting himself up; he's pushing the world down.6.Chuck Norris played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.7.When he was born, the only person that cried was the doctor, never slap Chuck Norris.
Total lie, Age of Empires 2 helped me pass my 7th grade history class.
I never play to win. But I do play not to lose.
Anime and Video Games did helped me with test, for example.
I didn't remember the name of some place in Brazil, then I thought of that game and I remembered the stage/place's name.
If video games rot your brain, then shouldn't I be a zombie? I play video games more than most people, and I''m doing fine in school. Actually, I might be doing better than most. o.O
