NYC hate or love?

New York City, Hate or love it? I just can't stand it. I have my reasons though..
1.The people...are EVIL.
2.NYC has to stick it face in everything!!!!
3.IT'S THE ONLY CITY PEOPLE KNOW IN THE US WHEN THEY THINK OF THE US. There are other cities like I dunno...Chicago?! We are a city too!!!! Gawd.

I can't stand how NYC thinks that they are the BEST city ever. No your not!!! Your not the heart and soul of America.

You can have your spiderman but we got THE DARK KNIGHT. Gotham city=Chicago. Everyone hates a City, I just happen to hate NYC. How dare I.....I dare.

Anyways those are my views and my opinions, What's your take on New York City?

I've never been there, but I heard that you only like it if you were born and lived your whole life there.

Everyone has their own opinion on the "best city", and NYC is one of those because of all its opportunities.

I'm thinking it's a matter of being accustomed to living there.

How do you know the people in N.Y. are evil? The guy who owns this site lives in N.Y. and he is a really nice guy. And I have a few other friends who also live in N.Y. and they are lovely people as well.

And when I think America, I think San Jose (because my sister lives there =P ).

I would love to visit N.Y. It sounds like a very fun place to be.

Sauce? I can't recall the last time the New York Mayor has interjected into, say, foreign policy, or at least not any more then any other major port city. Certainly I see other major metropolitan mayors, such as Detroit's and Chicago's whining on the National level political scene frequently enough.

Well, to be fair they are the largest metropolitan area in America, and have been XBOX HUEG for quite a while. They are also one of the few US cities to actually have something of a local culture. Chicago doesn't have much of a local culture, for example. Very few people vacation there (unless they have family) for that reason.

PROTIP: Gotham City is an amalgamation of Chicago and NYC. Same thing with Metropolis. They both freely steal elements from other American cities whenever the story needs it. You might as well claim that Chicago is Springfield too.

Also, I don't hate any cities, because hating a vague notion attached to a geographical location is obtuse.

I like New York City. I've only been once though, when I was 8 or 9. But it might as well be the heart and soul of America. It has so many opportunities. I plan on going back there next year when I'm 18, right before I go to England.

But personally, even though I love New York, San Francisco is always going to be my favourite. I've never been, but it just seems so magical. XD

It is, however, true that NYC is the best city ever. The Knight has no powers. He just has gadgetry, Robin, Alfred and a messload of money. Spiderman has webslinging, spidersense and a girl.

No. You're an idiot because you need to get out more and come to NYC to see what the people really are like. In the Bronx, there is a zoo and a White Castle. That's two wonderful pieces of heaven right there. To add to it, the pizza in the Bronx is great. You got flat crust, dripping grease, dripping hot cheese, and the slices are huge not to mention the amount of pepperoni placed on each slice.

Style? You want to talk about style? The knight has a black suit and money. His only suit is black...all black. Spidey actually has powers and a suit with color. In the movie, he temporarily got the black symbiote suit but in the end, the blue and red suit still prevailed for him. To add to it, the black spider suit changed his demeanor and attitude entirely. At least he had a positive mood with the blue and red suit. What attitude does batman have? I don't really see much of an attitude coming from him.

People outside of the US do know other cities besides New York City. I have met people that do know about your lovely Chicago as well as Milwaukee, LA, San Francisco and smaller cities in the US.

Not all the people are evil, and Chicago has its fair share of nasty people as well. That's the way big cities are all over the world. You'll meet some polite and nasty individuals in your travels. It's not something to cry over and get angry about. If you can't take the atmosphere, then you probably won't be able to take many other big cities. City life is stressful in more ways than one.

I'm sorry you find NYC unappealing, but maybe you could try giving it another chance? Hate it for more acceptable reasons if you must despise its existence.

As for me, I don't favor NYC...but that was probably because I went at a cruddy time. I would love to go back there when the weather is nicer...and a lot warmer. Although I did like the buildings and the pizza. The pizza I had was the best part.

Although, if that ever happens, that would be quite amazing. Perhaps if you create a thread on that expirience you won`t sound so stupid. Crazy, but not nearly as stupid. ^^

Edit: Oh, yea, and I do not love, nor hate the city. I`ve only been there once and have no reason to hate it. It wasn`t amazing, but I suppose that`s because I was just passing through. To tell you the truth, I much prefer it here in the city where even people from my own state didn`t know of it`s existance. ^.^

Another note...perhaps you should take up photography and snap some pictures of NYC. Get a different viewpoint. At least look at the buildings and get a taste of the atmosphere. There is certainly much more to NYC than what you have stated in this thread, and the same case applies to other big cities as well.

As for me, my ultimate love for a city will go to Bangkok.

Lol @ this thread and everyone. I was waiting for Ace to reply to this thread, but it seems he's too busy nowadays to do so. Here goes my opinion:

When I visited New York the first couple of times, I hated it. I didn't like it at all, but that's because I didn't get to see the real New York. Never got the chance to. I also hated shopping there. I was taken to lame shopping places and my passionate hatred towards shopping blinded me.
However, last month I went to New York again to visit my aunt and this time Kaitou Ace gave me a tour around Manhattan. I was very impressed by everything. The buildings, the streets, the people, etc. My whole opinion about the city changed in that particular day. I enjoyed my time a lot there and got to take lots of pictures of the place. It is a fun city to live in. I don't believe it ever dies or gets boring.
People are jerks there? Like I was told by Ace, it's just a stereotype. I never met anyone mean to me there. Or was a jerk or "evil". I sure met a lot of weird ones, but that just made me laugh. I am easily amused. It was a sunny Sunday. No one seemed stressed to me. Everyone seemed to enjoy their time. Also, refer to what members posted about how people usually are in cities. It's not only NY.
Don't hate on a city because it's more popular than yours. =P That's just silly.
Oh, and for those of you who love shopping, NY is a great place. They really have nice and cheap stuff.

I regret not having much time on my hand to go and visit more places in the city. I'd love to go there again soon, though.

i'm a die hard Atl fan cause that's where i was born and raised. but i live in NY with my b/f now and i think it's great. the people are actually very nice so far. there is tons of crap to do all the time. great food and it's like the only place left in the country where small buisnesses are still very important to the communities. but home is where the heart is and my heart is in Atl.
