I just ate a GOD DAMNED snail. Discuss.
Oh and also discuss interesting or obscure food stuffs you have encountered.
Snails aren't really that obscure but it got me thinking about all the really strange stuff that's out there.
K go!

How did you eat it? ._, did you boil it or something or did it just fell into your mouth?
A while ago I ate a scorpion that came in the bottom of a tequila bottle.
Me and friends just cut it up between each other and ate it.
Senjougahara Fascination
No, it was a weird cross between Neil Patrick Harris and Angelina Jolie though the shrooms might have contributed to that.
Which brings me to the next item of food - chicken hearts. They are really popular in Brazil served in BBQs as skewers but I've never seen them here in Australia.
Senjougahara Fascination
I've eaten crocodile meat when I used to live in Africa, which is probably the most obscure meat I've eaten purely in terms of species.
Also, uncooked horse meat; surprisingly delicious.
Many of the things served in your local standard issue Japanese bar would most likely strike most people from Western cultures as pretty obscure.

To Japan! On a quest of cultural exploration!
Hahaha spot on! Why do you think I have never eated Sushi? xD I have been thinking to myself time and time again that I really should try it out, since it's so popular but.. then I come to think about that it's actually raww fish and then I just don't have the bravery to take that 'leap'. Lolz, you guys really have to forgive me on that one!
But it's a little strange that I fear that particular 'raw fish' so much since Im used of eating pickled herring. http://blogs.sweden.se/expat/2011/05/09/holy-herring/ <--- a shocked tourist writing about his meeting with the swedish cuisine. x)
Hmmmmmmm........ I just guess us nordic people really do loves fish a great deal, but then it has to be 'our' fish. Thinking about it it's ironic but not that strange since, after all, you do eat the food that you are used to. 'Raw' pickled fish, sure I will eat it, but if you put that little piece of fish on a bed made out of rice - then I will back of with a 'horrorstrucken' face-expression.
Fish, fish, fish, nordic fish! http://satwcomic.com/art/nordics-like-fish.jpg
The most 'strange' thing (for me) I have eaten this far I guess is swordfish, it was kind of exotic for me.
Deep fried swordfish... hm.. typical tourist thing I'll guess.
Liver and such I am kind of used of eating. Also, one food that I actually love to eat is (translated) bloodpudding.
[swedish variant of the english black pudding] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_pudding
I bork u borkeli bork bork *toss away fork*
Love blodpudding with lingonberry jam. *thumbs up for my 'swedish-ness'*
If you have never been in Sweden and travels over here you will find that we loooooove having food in tubes. Lolz, poor tourists! x)

omg I love chicken hearts! when I lived in China, whenever my family bought home a whole chicken, I'd always get the heart and the gizzard. no liver though! I hate liver... :x
@SuXrys since we're talking about obscure food, can you confirm for me the supposed extreme stench of this food item called "surströmming"?
You want me to tell you if it smells or not? ... well why yes it does.
Click on one of the link I posted before : http://satwcomic.com/art/nordics-like-fish.jpg
Surströmming is after all 'rotten fish' so it's no wonder that it does smell awefully. x)

That's pretty common here in Fla. I like eating gator meat since it's the closest tasting to rabbit.
My favorite out of the norm thing I enjoy eating is rabbit legs. Not really obscure but people think I'm some horrible person for liking rabbit legs. They're good yo ;___;

ugh, shouldn't have watched that while I was eating.
now my pork and beef all look like fish innards... >.>
and if a Swede tells me it smells awful, then it must do.
now I'm sure that's one item I would never try. too smelly and rotten XD
oh and, gaaaaaaaaah British accent!!! <3
and I've been pronouncing "surströmming" wrong :x
can never figure out what to do with those diacritics...
^Chicken feet are awesome, especially cooked in soy sauce. *-*
Fish head (meaning eyes, brains tongue, etc.) I love it =D Also cooked blood (lol) for example, pig's blood. Umm I'd like to try turtle someday, when I get the chance to. Frog's legs, etc, all the foods that define Asian food as strange. Also fish sperm. (Yes, weird. No puns please~)
Snail I've tried, it's definitely weird. I don't even know how to define the taste and texture. I was so grossed out by it.

Lol phoenix claws, what an exaggeration. xD The claw pads are nice, though. They must cleaned thoroughly beforehand, of course. Eh well, I've been surrounded by Chinese food and culture since young, so...
Snails leave this trail of slime wherever they go D= Does not want! Fish brains are nice, they have a creamy texture.Originally Posted by SuXrysShould probably not go into a detailed description...
I know, my Australian cousins have similar reactions to eating fish head lol xD

Ate squid the other week. Feels and tastes like eraser.
Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
Lots of people say that-- like some get put off by sashimi because it's displayed in this style
Okay, my drawing sucks on Oekaki, but you know what I'm trying to illustrate...
Probably lol. Conventional US...food?

One time I ate a person, it tasted like pork....Sorry that was a blatant lie.

i didn't realize you we swedish before, so i guess i'll have to say "Hur ar laget."
my father currently lives in vaxjo, and i've spent quite some time in sverige
anyways, i've tried the tube food...........and i gotta say that i liked the caviar one. put that on some crackers ftw!
as for the weirdest thing i've ever ate, hmmmmmmm.
probably braised baby octopus, marinated in it's own ink.
i consider myself an adventurous eater, but even i was iffy about it at first.
it ended up being good though.
