Original Article: Cursive vs. Typing: Which should schools teach?
I'm just curious about your thoughts on this occasionally touchy subject. Some argue that cursive should be taught because it's the "traditional" way of writing and it makes writers write and think faster, while others believe the need for cursive writing has become dismal in the modern era.
Personally, I never had to learn cursive writing, and I got along just fine. The only time when I'll have problems is when I find myself unable to read others' cursive writing.
So what do you think? Should cursive be preserved? Phased out? Or do you simply not care?
By the way, only 6 out of 50 states in the US still require the teaching of cursive in their public schools' curricula. (States that still require cursive, if you're interested: Alaska, Montana, Nebraska, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin.) I'm not sure about countries other than the US, but feel free to share about your country.
