Stock audio

I don't know if this is just me, but I always recognize when stock audio is being used in movies or video games. There is a creaking door sound that has been haunting me for over 10 years, then there's the Willhelm scream, it's been sampled in so many films it's bordering on ridiculous. So, how about you? Do you recognize stock audio easily, have any pet peeve sounds? Or are you blissfully unaware of the same sounds being played over and over and over and over throughout your film watching life?

lol wow that scream got really annoying.

Yeah it bugs me if I notice, but since theres no particular sounds I can remember being over-used I probaby don't pick up on it as much as some others. It has to be really over-used for me to tell.

I did it myself, but I did it digitally. Used old newspapers now in public domain I found on wikipedia. Like the announcement that Titanic had sunk, or that Hitler is dead.

• An 18 -wheeler passing by while honking
• Children laughing & giggling on the background
• In StarCraft, the sound effect when you click on the Academy Building

That's a classic. It's played in the strangest locations too...

I'm afraid I tend to be non-observant and rarely notice anything. In horror films and certain serial (programmes or films) I expect to hear certain stock sounds. Outside of these expected ones, I am painfully unaware of their use.

Well, one thing I always pick up on is footage/clips that have been reused, I know a lot of my friends never notice.

Wonder if it's the same one I recognize? Mine is a pretty high pitched sort of metallic door sound, could be a locker or something. The pitch sort of goes low-hiiiiigh-low...

yeah i have noticed that sound in so many more films and it really shows how sound editing is starting to get really pathetic. Wow george Lucas loved that sound byte.

Anyone here the one sound with the crowd cheering. It is mainly played on reality tv shows or for my favorite Riply's believe it or not

There are stock sounds for everything. Whenever I hear them it just screams "I am not creative or unique."

Shows how lazy fome producers can be. I wonder if someone has made a whole film of just stock audio and not a single fresh recording?
Theres the challenge now lets see if we can find one!
