I'm the same online as I am in person, for the most part.

I'm completely different, apart from my ability to lie perfectly both online and off. So I guess you'll never know <3
People are a judgemental lot, and the way they view you will always be different online from off because so many different things can effect that view, so it's impossible to project the exact same "persona" in both. Just a thought - I know this doesn't relate directly to the topic of the thread.

My demeanor is pretty variable as it is, so it's hard to say. Additionally, "persona" requires a lot more information than what we read on a screen; describing someone's persona based on forum posts, for example, paints an awfully incomplete picture.
I swear less online, though... Bad Memory |

In person, I tend to quietly observe people more before I approach them, studying them like some kind of creepy naturalist. Once I start, though, it's pretty similar. Otherwise, there's no real big difference, excepting my profanity. The forums' rules are exceedingly clear, though, so I've had to restrain that trait quite a bit while here.

Internet personas, huh?
Well, generally speaking, I act differently on the internet than in real life. It's a given really, and anyone who says otherwise is either very new to the internet, or wrong. In real life, there are inhibitions, unspoken rules we all follow. On the internet, there are no rules. In real life, we have only one identity, so we have to worry constantly about what others think about that identity and try to maintain good standing. On the internet, we can have as many identities as we want, in fact, since this is possible, one could say that no one of the internet actually has an identity. The only way to actually have one on the net is to link it to your real identity. i.e. Your name, where you live, etc. That being said, the internet is certainly not a place you should be going to find a sense of indentity. |
