Pointless things your parents say or have said in the past...

First off I'd just like to say this thread isn't aimed at ridiculing parents... I love my parents very much, and I'm eternally grateful that I've been brought up by them. But like many parents, they have been prone to dishing out pointless statements now and then, particulary in the past (not so much now though... now we're all adults), especially when I and/or my siblings had done something against their wishes, or against their "advice".

This thread is more or less for lols, and to a lesser extent, perhaps an indirect attempt to raise parental awareness of not-so-useful parental advice... so that should a parent come across this thread (I dunno... let's say, while you're at school they decide to spy on what you've been doing on your computer) they might just learn from their silly mistakes!

So, here's the general question:

What pointless things do your parents say or have said in the past?

Here's a few pointless things mine have said...

1. "What are you crying for? I'll give you something to cry for!"
2. "Now, now... there's no need for violence! Stop that now, the pair of you, or I'll bang both your heads together!"
3. "Don't come running to me if you fall down there and break your leg!"

pretty much everything I've heard them say really.

In fact, my mother blatantly admitted to me a little while back that she has probably learned far more about life from me than I ever have from her.

"Because I said" -Really? You are going to tell me NOT to do something but never give me a clear reasoning behind your no? You can't add a few more sentences explaining or anything? Really that is the most pointless line I have ever heard her say.

It's kinda hard to have a discussion on religion with my mom.
