Religion, ideology, resources, land, spite, love or just because... No matter how pathetic the reason, it's enough to start war. War will never cease to exist... reasons can be thought up after the fact... Human nature pursues strife.

I commend you. There's nothing more refreshing than a Pearl Harbor tribute on an otaku forum.
Given that barely anyone is even alive to remember WWII, I say it's time to stop brooding over it and let the past be the past.
That includes stopping the ceaseless production of movies about the people surrounding Hitler. Nobody cares about Hitler's car mechanic, bartender, nanny, or dentist. We barely cared about the people who were actually involved in the politics.

Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
We are not brooding over it. Pearl Harbor is not celebrated, we don't have parties. We remember those who lost their lives that day, nothing more.Given that barely anyone is even alive to remember WWII, I say it's time to stop brooding over it and let the past be the past.
Hollywood is a whole different can of something noxious. That includes stopping the ceaseless production of movies about the people surrounding Hitler. Nobody cares about Hitler's car mechanic, bartender, nanny, or dentist. We barely cared about the people who were actually involved in the politics.
I seriously doubt anyone here is going to question whether or not Pearl Harbor happened... I'm hoping no one is that stupid~I commend you. There's nothing more refreshing than a Pearl Harbor tribute on an otaku forum.
Sheesh, what suckers! They had it coming, dammit! It was war, whad'you expect? Care to sigh to every ambush and lost field battle that all the fighting countries had? I think not. So what makes Pearl Harbor so special? "We didn't see them comming, boo hoo hoo"? Tough luck, surprise is an element of battle!
Is PH even slightly comparable to, say, Nagasaki? Shut it!
Rest In Peace to all of the lost souls on December 7, 1941, and especially to the crew of the battleship U.S.S. Arizona

There's a problem with comparing Pearl Harbor to 9/11. Pearl Harbor was a sneak attack on military targets. 9/11 was a cowardly attack on civilians. After Peark Harbor, we fought the Japanese, and they came out and fought with bravery and honor. After 9/11 we attacked Afghanistan and Iraq, and for the most part they've hidden in their Mosques, behind their women and children, and all around fought like cowards.
I didn't know what it was until I wiki'd it a few minutes ago. Hard to believe I'm American, isn't it?
Not really, but it's hard to believe you didn't learn about it in school.
And they made a bad movie about it too.
Hmm, guess it's not all bad if Mr Bay could do worse.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
If we had to commemorate every major war event.. the calenders would get a lot fuller.
It suffices to learn it at least once from history books, and then move on with our lives.

I find it funny that Americans throw a fit over Pearl Harbor, an attack with 57 civilian casualties and a Japanese Tactical Victory, which is tragic no doubt. However, they completely ignore the minimum 150,000 civillian casualties of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Or, you could use a much better example of Japanese cruelty in WWII, the Rape of Nanjing, with civilian casualties well into 200,000.
So yeah, Americans are a bit whiny, now aren't they?
Yes. I'm saying that it's whining.
A large tactical victory isn't a reason to complain years later.. I mean, I sincerely doubt that Mexicans have a San Jacinto Day in which they complain that the Texans were able to outmaneuver them in a single battle. I doubt the Russians and Austrians have an Austerlitz day, and by the way, Russian and Austrian casualties at Austerlitz were 7.5 times those of the Americans at Pearl Harbor.

Japan remembers our victory over them, the anniversary of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Is that whining?
No, but you can't compare The Battle of San Jacinto to Pearl Harbor; other than people were killed in both. Also Texas does celebrate San Jacinto day; I'm guessing in the same way that the rest of the country celebrates Independence Day.
Again, this was a battle, Pearl Harbor was an ambush.
Besides, speeches and sentiments given are normal to any tragedy.
