Greetings, this thread is here to explain the SOTW system, as well as act as a thread for recruiting new judges.
So I guess you are wondering, why is it two people win the Signature of the Week? Well, the answer is simple, because there are two levels. The first level, the one on the bottom, is the popular vote SOTW. When the voting opens, people like you can participate in voting for their most favorite signature and cast a vote. When the voting ends, the top 3 winners by popular voting are rewarded with with a Medal.
Those can be found here: http://www.animeforum.com/awards.php
The second level, the one that is accompanied with the large introductory paragraph in the results; it is the winner based upon what the judges feel. Judges act where typical members do not, and analyze signatures based upon their overall artistic quality. Judges are more knowledgeable about art and therefore, typically give better a better analysis of which entry is most successful.
Winners of this level are given a little badge with their name on it to carry around the Forum as a type of display. The badge looks like this:
With that said, I guess you are wondering who the judges are, and whether or not you can be one. The judges are anonymous, and are supposed to be to avoid biases towards entries or users. And yes, you can be a judge as well.
If you do wish to be a judge, send a PM to Serated. Some requirements do apply:
1. You should be somewhat knowledgeable around artist programs such as Adobe Photoshop.
2. You be able to work with other people in discussions.
3. You must have some sort of a messenger system.
Any questions regarding the SOTW overall, about judging, or otherwise can be asked in this thread.
Thanks to reading,
Serated
