The mario franchise has always had such a strong storyline. It's the classic giant turtle kidnaps a princess and plumber saves her. It's just so tightly wound, I love it.

Killer 7 had a pretty crazy storyline. I appreciate the political implications.
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem had a cool Lovecraftian storyline, except devoid of all the racism.
The Darkness had a storyline that was surprisingly personal, and pulled a couple of bizarre twists.
Half-Life 2 has an unbelievably immersive universe, which makes for an immersive storyline.
Silent Hill 2 has all sorts of twisted symbolism.
Yume Nikki's storyline is very vague and largely implied, but those implications are fascinating and terrifying. And then there's the ending...

Halo, if you ever read the novels as well as watched the anime.

Vampire The Masqurade:Bloodlines had an epicly awesome story and the completely crazy dialouge trees for picking malkavian as your clan is soo much fun

WoW, the CSI: Miami storyline is awesome.

huehuehuehuehue.

The Darkness. As much as I didn't like the gameplay, the story was very very well played out. I can't say I liked the ending though.
Darksiders. For a 360 game the plot was pretty fantastic and the game was long. I wouldn't play it a second time, but still. ..
Twilight Princess. I'll probably get a bad rep for this, but to me it had the best story of any Zelda game. The classic lets defeat the evil guy with an unexpected twist and 5 final boss battles. It had me at hello <3.
Other M. More than anything I live the depth they gave Samus as both a human and a bounty hunter. The story had a few things I didn't like about it, but what can you do? Nothing's perfect =P
Bowser's Inside Story. I can't say any other game has it's plot or mechanics. It's original and both sides of the story melt together with such ease, you'd think it's only got one plot in it.
Paper Mario TTYD. I don't even know where to begin. Everything about the story grabs you and pulls you further down until you can't breathe, but you don't want to. Instead you keep going until you finally hit the bottom of the hole and finish the game. It's the classic Mario story with some twists and turns and completely epic music all the way through. Best game ever plz.

Inorite? Who knew italian plumbers could take on all those reptiles and whatnot. It inspired me to want to become a plumber.
As for great storylines, I'd say:
-Golden Sun
-Kingdom Hearts
-Luminous Arc (the first one, the second one was awful)
-Disgaea (maybe)
-Tekken. (okay now I'm just bsing)
-Resident Evil
-Assassin's Creed (feels like a Dan Brown novel imo; that's a good thing)

System Shock II was so awesome that a ton of games copied it and now it's tired and full of cliches.

Eris, I invoke this trope.

To think there was a time when picking up audio-logs was an innovative new form of narrative unlike anything else out there. And people were surprised when it turned out that the person who had been guiding you around over the intercom .
It's so bad that System Shock 2 clone is almost a genre. I mean, Doom 3, BioShock, BioShock 2, Dead Space. There's probably one or two more I can't think of at the moment.

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
Fable 3
Fallout 3
Persona 4
*Glittering Crux*

All of the Paper Mario games, because I love how you have to get through the creative worlds that they create. I like the storyline of Blumiere and Tippy alot.
