Do you care if others know your true age?

This is something i've been wondering. I understand it's cultural depending on the country/area, but do you hide your age for fear of judgement, or do you just not care about people knowing how "old" you are?

For example -- women, depending on culture, hide their age, or get cosmetic surgery to make them appear younger. This is hardly anything new, and that's their choice and all, but I don't see a real reason to hide or lie about your age, except for vanity reasons.

Obviously, there are more than a few scenarios where your real age might impact the situation, both good and bad - but i'm talking more about the vanity aspect. What makes 30 so bad? or 45? obviously people are afraid of their own morality and therefore don't want to grow older, but ... what makes your real age so horrible?

Then again, people say I usually look young for my age, so I have no idea if i'll feel the same way as I grow older. I hope not. :]

Psht, I'm not afraid to tell people irl my age, but they seem to have difficulties believing it.
Thehy say I look much younger than I really am, but it's because I'm a bit short. -_-
On the interwebs you only see pictures of me, and on pictures people don't seem to think I look young. (well most pictures then.)
So yeah I don't hide my age irl or interwebs.

Anyway, irl I tell people my gender cause I don't care, I look young depending on how I look. Online no way not anymore. That way I can be chibi and now have people say "aren't you a little old?" -____-

Honestly, no, I don't even care if everyone knows my name, it is ***** *******, I am 13, 14 in 12 days, I never hide my age cause it's stupid, some people want to hide it, I can't blame them, it's their choice, but imho, why would you?

I wouldn't care. If I was 40, I would say I was 40, or say that I'm not 15. Either way I'm not going to completely lie. I've noticed that if you are over the age of 35, you're pretty much a creepy pedophile.

It depends on their age. (I'm talking about females here). Younger girls aren't likely to lie about their age, maybe except when they're trying to hook up with someone older. Women near their 30s, on the other hand, are usually very likely to subtract a year or two from their age, especially to get rid of that scary 3 in the second digit. *cough cough not suggesting something about Miss Moon* =P

*ehm* My mother used to tell people she's 24 when she was like 38, and nobody doubted it. I think it's stupid, to be honest. Though now, she's 40 (or 41?) and she looks way older (she looks about 32), maybe because she's been smoking for a few years. And she still lies about her age when she can.

Personally, I don't care. I tell people my real age, and knowing people's real age will not really change anything for me.

Also, how depending on their culture? Is there any culture in the world where women don't like too look younger?

lol at your mom, my mom is like that too in a way. the difference is she doesn't tell a specific number but let the others guess.

For the most part on the Internet, if I haven't disclosed my age, people tend to think that I'm far older. (one person said they thought I was 24-25) o_O;;

I guess it's just the way I articulate myself, so I take it as a compliment. ^^

Well, I saw a documentary about China where this (middle aged) chinese-american lady was talking about the differences in culture between America and China. She said that in China, her age is more of something to be proud of, because it shows wisdom. In america, she said that when people called her "old", it had a different implication than it did in china, and she found it insulting.

It was a while ago, so can't remember all the exact details, but that was the gist of it.

Almost impossible for me to get a drink around here unless I pull out my ID, and even then people think it's a fake. Jerks.

Yea, it's like "Youth is wasted on the young". It's true. I didn't always understand what that meant.

Most younger people are impatient with older people, because they don't know why they're so slow. But also, older people may look at younger people and wonder why they rush everything. It's interesting.

Older people sometimes wish they were young, younger people wish they were older.

I honestly don't care people have a tendency to overshoot my age though considering how i act. it might be my sense of humor but even my family has gotten my age wrong on a number of occasions. Then again i don't care enough so when asked the question even i have to think a bit so i don't over/undershoot it. =P

well some have personal issues about it, i have a friend who lies always about her age so she could hook up with older guys its sort of a rebel thing since her parents hate things that are not pleasant to the eyes or something.

If people lie about their true identification its probly for 1 of 2 reasons

1) In order to access a site they need to pretend to be a certain age most cases 18+
2) They are an internet predator

I don't mind telling people my age or anything for that matter. I got nothing to hide. I'm an open book. Other people have their right to do as they please and thats respectable.
