Red Dead Redemption got game of the year. I wonder why Black ops even got nominated for that.

Yeah I was rooting for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, but I knew it was a long shot with it just being released... but it did win an award.

Agreed, the game was just released so it would be kind of silly if it won game of the year.
Can't wait for Uncharted 3!

I would've thought LBP2 was more anticipated than Portal2 since more people play it.

But it's obvious black-ops got nominated. It's a marketing ploy. Like how movies win their nominations at the end of the year. You have a better chance of winning if you release your movie in about November so people will have it fresh in their mind.... Black Ops is just a game boys personal new favorite it seems which was released at the end so everyone is still obsessed with it while it's time to start voting for GOTY and stuff. If it was released earlier on the fad may have had chance to die out. Thus something everyone is obsessing over = nomination....

One of the reasons game awards should have a time dilation between releases and the awards.

Like, if you're going to do awards for 2010, try doing it in 2011. Just my theory, but w/e

The lack of the supposed Saints Row 3 information at the show disappointed me but Elder Scrolls 5 and Mass Effect 3 being announced for next year made the show better.
The show itself was not that great in my opinion. but I think that year after year the Spike Video Game Awards are at least trying to improve.
