Here is a small editorial, which I think it might be a good idea to do in these forums.
So id decided into pushing Rage to October 4, 2011-A date full-packed with sequel of one of the best PS3's games-Dark Soul, one of the most loved and long-waited first-party titles ever owned by Sony-Twisted Metal and a sequel of a good Xbox 360/PS3 exclusivewhich now is a coming to PC as well, The Darkness. Not included in the title, NBA 2k11 will be released on that date as well.
Id has a huge fanbase and it's well known for creating fantastic games that are potential Day 1 buys, however their competition aren't so weak, even with it's backup I think that there is a huge risk by pushing back the date. None of these games are one-platform exclusive, except for Twisted Metal but by knowing the huge success that Demon Soul's had, it's sequel will sell like hot pancakes and considering that their game has also moved to Xbox 360, and most of them know how well Demon Souls was, they are going to check out the game especially with the released material we got. Twisted Metal is one love title among gamers, but as PS3-exclusive, it will be look over by the other titles but it has a lot of potential on being picked up but a lot of people. The Darkness II isn't a strong title, it's a great title but it's fanbase is rather small that considering it's opponent this game isn't much of a threat to the previous titles. And as for NBA 2k12, no matter how of a good game NBA 2k11 was, I suggest 2K Games should push back or bring forth because it has no match against the other titles.
The risky side of this story is that not your average gamer knows of Id Software, so this is one down side for them on their game being overlook on, because most of their competition is strong.
