    Default Most Memorable TV Moments

Like the title says, post some of the TV moments you find particularly memorable, regardless of the subject. A few (randomly selected) of mine are:

    - 9/11 (was this not on every TV station in the world?)

    - The day Dr. Greene died on ER (or rather the day they read his letter in the middle of the ER)

    - My New York "Buster Douglas" Giants defeating the New England "Mike 18-1 Tyson" Patriots in Super Bowl XLII

Erm... I'd say the death of Princess Diana...

You both have pretty much mentioned some of the biggest ones.

How about the FIFA world cup where an Uruguay player blocked a goal with his hand (even though he wasn't the goalie). Then when Ghana was given the opportunity for a penalty due to the hand ball, they missed it. Hilarious!!!

Also the tsunami that hit along with the earthquakes that happened consecutively. And when they got the Chilean miners out.

Yo, I'm really happy for you, and I'ma let you finish, but Charlie from Lost had one of the best deaths of all time, ALL TIME

Nawh, I'd say 9-11... although at the time I was too young to understand its significance.

And Ghana (my country of ethnic origin) were doing so well, too! I think perhaps the pressure (thanks largely to the rediculously high hopes of South Africa) got to them though, and at some point it must have occured to them that they might actually win the world cup (Which was probably the reason for them missing the penalty)!

I'll admit though... they're far better teams than Ghana - and when it comes to their playing style, they have this all-out 1-dimensional attacking style and a noticeable lack of defensive strategy... but having said that... that limited approach was enough at times to make their opponments really struggle, especially to keep up with them (which I thought was very amusing ). Ultimately though, their "strategy" was going to let them down in the end (although unexpectedly, it turned out to be a penalty miss!)... and seeing as Ghana is not one of the richest countries in the world, the team doesn't have anywhere near the level of resources of others. Which makes me wonder: how well could Ghana play if they had more money to back them? Because I think if they had as much as the world's top (European) teams (such as Spain, Holland and Germany) they would be a very formidable side indeed. Or rather, they would be very difficult to defeat if their defense was as good as their offense.

Anyway, I'm glad someone besides me was watching Ghana play... but how sad it turned out in the end... although to be fair, they were carrying the wheight of South African world cup history on their shoulders. :'(

Yeah, good memory there... but again, what a shame.

    @Neuko:

Yeah if they had the resources they would have done better, but then so would any other country. I think a major factor for Ghana's advance was the goalie, who like blocked practically anything. I think he should have been MVP goalie or something, seriously. Ghana's defense was horrid, but their goalie was strong. I actually wanted them to win, that Russian guy playing for Uruguay (I forget his name) was handing out fouls left and right and never received a yellow card on that game. Still, Fucile, Abreu, Forlan and Suarez could have all done a way better job.

Btw, Ghana vs USA, that game was terrible (for US). They practically had the same strategy as Ghana throughout most of the cup but they just didn't know how to execute.

    My personal favorites are.

The Finale to the wonder years

John Locke's big twist in episode 4 of lost and Desmond's call to Penny in season 4.

Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk on TV in 1983.

Derek Redmond finishing the race with his father.

The final 5 minutes of six feet under.
