i am not sure if this has been asked but are the boondocks and avatar classified as anime or do anime have to come from japan? I know they were created in th usa but they are undoubtly based on a anime art style. thanks for any responce

This is an epic question that has yet to be satisfactorily answered! Most people lately have been saying no since it would mean that Avatar: the Last Airbender is not anime. While I've never seen Boondocks considered one before, I think you're on to something. Either way, in the end does it really matter what exactly classifies as anime?

I dont consider them to be anime, I categorize them as cartoons (big difference between Akira and Spongebob).
The whole animation style is different.
I personally hate the animation for avatar.
I love the boondocks though .. so funny.

i see where your coming from man that what my friend says but the only difference that i can see is the country of origin.
and the boondocks is really funny if not a bit risky.

Though, if you ask a japanese person or an anime creator they would call it anime, becaus they call all cartoon for anime :P

I may not be able to precisely describe what the prerequisites to anime are, but I know it when I see it; and avatar, is not anime.

Avatar is animated by Koreans, thus it's not an Anime.
And comics made by Koreans are K-Comics, lawl...not Manga.
