Trolling

I've never heard this term until a month ago. What does it mean exactly? Just someone who busts into a post or starts a thread mainly focused upon insults?

WHen I hear troll all I think about is the cave troll form The Lord of the Rings; big smelly creature, with a large club that only grunts.

Trolling is the intention of getting a certain reaction from another, such as digust or anger. That's one of the ways though. Trolling is fun, but it's often frowned upon.

Nope, dun know him. I've been here for six years, but off and on. I'll stay for a couple months then dissapear, that's how I do. Life doesn't come with enough free time, I wish I could go back to the days before responsibility... or I could become a hobo... but that's no fun, no internet access that way.

Well, Mavericker was one of the former trolls here on AF. From what I read, a random fool(sp?) was one of the greatest trolls here.

I checked out that website; the halo 3 one was hilarious! I guess a website isn't really complete without a troll or two. To date I dun think I've met one, but I dun really pay attention to bad reaction posts... rather I just laugh, a lot of them can be funny. Except the weird ones, I just stand back form those.

Sigma was also having trouble figuring out the difference between a troll and spammer. Sigma is more of spammer though cause I hardly ever try to provoke someone.
I think we should come up with another term for people who just post for the lulz. I say we coin the word "Jester". Anyone agree?
