Rep Goals.

If it be AF, Nintendo Forums, Etc. I've always wanted to know the reasoning of having a set Rep Goal. Does higher rep make someone feel higher up on a forum? I'm not trying to bad anyone with a set rep goal on here or another other forum with Rep installed, but it seems silly to have a set goal over a number barely noticable on the forum.

Thoughts? Is it dumb to have a set rep goal? Are you someone with a set rep goal?

Personally, I pay no heed to the rep system. In my opinion, it's just ends up being something people toy with.

as for the actual topic of this thread, I dun really care about having a specific number of rep. While the green/red rep bars actually tell something about the poster, the number of rep needed to fill up that bar is so low, that the system just shows pretty much everyone as the same.

Back in the day, when I had low rep, I used to think being infamous would be sorta cooler than having high rep. (weird admiration of villains)

but anyway, no rep goal for me, and no interest in what your rep might be, the only thing that decides my respect for you is the stuff you say.

I dunno, it just seems fun to have rep power...
But then again, I'm a power-addict.

Although lately the rep system isn't working for me it seems. (I don't get notifications 'bout it...)

Rep "goal" doesn't make any sense.

The reputation is just an indicator of the level of praise/shame given by other members. There shouldn't be any sort of "goal" because you shouldn't be -trying- to gain rep.

I don't look at a user's reputation power nor do i have any kind of rep goals. I think that having that statistic is a cool feature but it would have been a lot more fun if those bars were more difficult to fill up.
As it is ,the visual representation of a user's popularity isn't entirely accurate so i don't see the point in setting goals and trying to get thousands of points

I've never cared about having a "Rep Goal" If someone likes what I have to say then awesome thats cool. But it's not like I go out and TRY to get people to rep me because it's annoying. I try not to give people with Rep Goals Reps because it's just what they want and could care less about what you have to say in addition to the rep.

And that goes for everywhere not just here on AF. Like on FB for example.. I could kill someone every time I see a "Need Fans!! Almost to the 5000 Mark!" ~le sigh.

I have no rep goal either. Usually if I get rep, that means I made someone laugh, which is enough for me.

I'm not the kind to really care for rep that much.
Just another number that doesn't speak for much...
Now personalisation stuff like avatars on the other hand, AWESOME!
