Kay, here's how I see it. Its sick to insult the one who gave you life, especially when some mothers would do anything for their children. Its just a lame way to insult and try to gain an advantage in an argument when your obviously losing, and its rather predictable. I'd punch the person if they didn't stop when I told them too, no question.

I punched someone for it once. Then I realized, I don't know my real mother and the one the state assigned me to isn't worth it. So now I tell them "Yeah, probably. What's your point?" They usually stare for a moment before backing away slowly.

Depending on the insult and how patient I'm feeling I'll either laugh or goad them back until they try to physically strike me at which point I drive them into the ground in self defence.
Standard security tactic as assault here is committed as soon as intent is established allowing for self defence. Bonus points if security cameras recorded the prick doing so.

Most people usually expect the "your face" retort so the fact that I don't care that they insult my mum throws them off. Although I do love my family (obviously) I hardly get offended when people insult my parents. Hell, I insult my parents. >_>
