Approved by LPS, much thanks. Here we go again, folks. PotC v.2!
Avast, ye scabrous dogs! In 1705, the golden age of piracy. Many pirates came to the Caribbean after the end of the War of the Spanish Succession. They all seemed to flood to Port Royal and Tortuga. This is where we begin, the great Turtle Island, Tortuga, in a race for the the great enigmatic city of Atlantis where boundless undiscovered treasures remain hidden from the world. Will the great mystical Atlantis be able to be located? What monsters and obstacles lie between the pirates and the long lost treasure of Atlantis? However, there's one little problem... the captains. They were once great allies, but now they're not so close anymore, in fact they're racing agaisnt eachother to see who will get to Atlantis first. What's this about the navy...and the Brethren Court?! And you as a filthy and greedy ol' pirate obviously would like a share of the loot. So it's up to you to choose your captain to lead you along to get that treasure!
The two captains and their ships are:
Flah Blah: Captain Josephine Lamort- ship: The Red Plague (Le Plaie Rouge)
Specs: Stealth and power are the key elements that make the Red Plague such a fearful opponent. The Red Plague has a great advanted over her enemies in her ability to hide in the sea at night, having black hull and sails. The Red Plague is a relatively well-armed ship with port and starboard guns. It carries 40 broadside guns, 20 on each side; 18 twelve pound guns are located on the main deck. The gunports on the gun deck are in the shape of demonic siren faces, with the ports appearing at the mouths. On the bow however, she mounts a pair of bow chasers, each in the form of a triple-barreled gun. The ship was dubbed the "Red Plague" or "Plaie Rouge" on account of Captain Lamort's red hair and to support the red theme all lamps on the ship have tinted red glass.
Atmosphere: Despite Captain Lamort's fearful nature, she is fiercely devoted to all her crew members. In result of her close relationship to each member of the crew, she's not afraid to put everyone in their place when needed (or not). Being pirates, however, they would not exactly fit into the "one big happy family" type ship. Constant action, adventure, and the efficiency of the Captain and crew keep the ship together. The ship is hardly ever at rest with one adventure after the next. Despite having built up a reputation as a ship of mercenaries only interested in treasure, the ship's fast-paced nature can be attributed to the love of exploration. The Red Plague is one of the few ships in the world that has managed to travel to the edge of the Earth and has ventured to three of the seven lost Cities of Gold.
Fionn Mac(Co-GM): Captain James Amren- ship: The Black Dawn
Specs: The Dawn is a large Galleon class multi-decked sailing ship with amber colored hull and ashen sails. Faded gold accents upon the lamps and bolting of the ship give it a sense of aged grace, as well as a less ominous that gives a deceptive less pirate-like look . Armed with 30 total cannons (14 on the upper deck, 14 lower deck and 1 each on the bow/stern) The Dawn is a formidable opponent in open sea combat. Benefiting from her design movement is very stable on the rough waters, taking many angles other ships dare not try and with her speed she can out run most other ships, even though faster vessels exist. Her greatest strength, the combination of toughness and maneuverability keeps the crew serving on The Dawn a step ahead of the competition.
Atmosphere: While a ship of The Dawn's caliber could be pushed by potential suitors into a war class environment, having a captain that is well...nearly the opposite of such, makes serving on the ship quite an experience. Laid back wouldn't correctly describe the atmosphere entirely as despite the captains traits, having such a powerful ship does require attention to detail and hard work. To some more serious minded individuals or action heavy sailors, life on the Dawn may seem rather boring or dull for their tastes compared to most other ships out there. However the air of the ship is mostly that of an adventurous sort looking to live freely, stick it to those in power when they can and score some treasure along the way, when the captain/ship feel like doing so that is. But, when trouble does arise (and when does it not for a pirate) the captain expects those who sail with him to follow his lead and offer something useful, as the ship could always use more cannon fodder...because despite the previous qualities of the ship, its best not to deceive the deceitful captain.
Before you sign up, remember there is no magic, no super fantastic talking animals, you can't have special abilities (ie: advanced vision, telekinesis etc). You cannot be a captain, it's first come- first pick. If the rank you want has been chosen already, read below.
**Just because you cannot be a captain, you can always rebel and try to become the new captain of whatever ship you choose. But folks, let's not have everyone wanting to be captain every other post and make sure it's at reasonable times. By that I mean, at appropriate situations, don't just randomly say " I wanna be captain!" when we're looking at a map or something. ALSO. It doesn't just have to be the captain that you want the position of, your character can covet whatever it is their little black heart desires. Scheme and plot! You may also want to discuss this with your other fellow pirates, can you sense the conspiracy?!
Ranks:
First mate( responsible of ship security and safety, head of deck department. 1 position per ship)
Navigator(look-out. 2 position per ship)
Cabin boy/girl (in charge of managing supplies. 2 position per ship)
Sailor (unlimited positions)
** List of weapons: (Unfortunately I lack room, so I'll post a link of a list of pirate weapons with descriptions.)

Captains:
Name: Captain Josephine Lamort
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Weapon:
Fists, Josephine's prefered weapon of choice is hand-to-hand combat when in need of a quick getaway.
Rapier, this is the weapon that Josephine is mostly seen using apart from her fists. Josephine is an excellent swordsman and was trained in fencing at an early age.
Blunderbuss, occasionally Josephine can be seen using a blunderbuss when wanting to make assert her power or to show off. However her aim is decent at best and prefers close range combat.
Appearance: Having a gentle and effeminate look is an offset to Josephine's true harsh nature but is balanced by her fiery mane. Josephine is an ostentatious dresser and doesn't mind substituting efficiency for style when appropriate. Wearing a black leather tricorne hat with an exotic plume, gold hoop earrings, cotton bandana, long coat, brocade, with a yellowed jabot blouse, loose fitting pants tightened at the knee by a series of eyelets and ribbon, and leather boots. Josephine enjoys wearing the colours banned by Elizabethan Sumptuary laws such as purple, royal blue and red.
Personality: Captain Lamort is a tough and sassy female who manages her ship with an iron fist, many fear her vehement character as she is often assertive and holds a high air of authority. Josephine is drawn to showy battle tactics and doesn't mind the excessive violence that comes with it. Josephine only displays her respect to those who've earned it, egotistically believing that everyone must prove themselves worth her time. She is highly stubborn and impatient but does not act brashly, carefully calculating her next plan of attack.
Alliance: Le Plaie Rouge (The Red Plague)
Rank: Captain
Bio: Born to a family of French politcians and businessmen, Josephine was raised to become a lady of society. However, displaying a rather tomboyish nature and love of adventure, Josephine ran away at the age of thirteen and joined a ship as a skivvy in Tortuga where she met and worked with her fellow knave James Armen. There they grew up together and what started off as childhood friendship eventually led to a more serious relationship. A relationship that wasn't exactly a successful one, they constantly quarreled over ridiculous matters and usually had different opinions on everything; nonetheless they stuck together. For years they worked aboard the Black Dawn together, where eventually James was appointed the new captain of the ship. At this Josephine was apalled for she would have thought that she'd inherit their Captain's ship on account of her ability as a leader. Thus, the couple broke off their relationship and went their separate ways. After several years, Josephine had established her own ship called The Red Plague and had built up her own fearsome reputation.
Name: James Amren
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Weapon:
Hanger Cutlass- A slightly longer version of the standard cutlass, James’ hanger was purchased after his first ever share of the ships loot and has been a fixture at his side ever since. Slight rust adorns the guard of the sword but the blade is as sharp as ever.
Curved Knife & Boot Knives- James’ curved knife which is always snugly set in his belt has a menacing blade that is offset by its beautifully etched handle. The boot knives offer the crafty captain a little more flexibility in combat.
Flintlock Pistol- James’ Pistol also set in his belt (when taken with him) has been rarely used in combat as he prefers his blades and as such the sidearm though standard in appearance has kept is glossy finish.
Appearance: Captain Amren stands at an average height and has a broad shouldered body toned by his life long sailing of the seas. His seemingly unassuming dark brown eyes and clean-shaven face give him an uncommon look for someone in his profession. Keeping his garb rather simple, he sports a black medieval like shirt underneath his black pirate-like vest, a set of matching black pants and a pair of tough leather boots that are each adorned with a matching boot knife.
A worn baldric across his chest and a patterned green bandana across his brow, in which his spiky short black hair peaks over, complete his outfit. He is said to have a captain’s coat to complete his look, though he is never seen wearing it.
Personality: Personality wise, Capt. Amren has some compassion and concern somewhere within himself but events of the past have kept him with a seemingly ever changing personality, a self guarding trait he relies on it would seem. Most of the time the Captain seems like the carefree or laid back type of person. Being rather indifferent about things (besides rum) he often comes off as rather unmotivated, to the point of being annoyingly lazy. However, once treasure or something of interest is involved, few can match the Captain’s determination and focus of the matter at hand, for at least some amount of time it seems. Though not as forceful or intimidating as a typical pirate captain, his wit and intellect keep him a step ahead of those who’d doubt his ability. And while James prefers to talk his way out of situations he is able to enjoy the occasional battle, knowing his blades are as equally as sharp as his tongue.
Alliance: The Black Dawn
Rank: Captain
Bio: Most likely born in some port of England, James Amren was the son of a poor fisherman and his sickly wife. After his mother’s death, James’ father did his best to raise his son but sadly also passed when his vessel was lost in a storm. Somehow James’ then found his way to the bustling port of Tortuga, where he met his soon to be companion Josephine Lamort. Being alone they found they could rely on one another and soon found themselves as crew members aboard the Black Dawn. From that point on their close friendship grew into something more, what that was neither of them could seem to figure out. As well as things seemed they soon were cut short by their captain’s mortal wounding in battle in which he declared their beloved ship was now James’. This surprised both friends, as James’ was always the “the right hand man” to Josephine following her lead and offering his own abilities to their combined effectiveness. The arguments that followed were no longer in good humor, as they called into question each other’s loyalty and honor to the code. Therefore, the companions parted ways and haven’t spoken at length since. James continued with his usual routine though now as the captain of the ship and set himself off to embark on a new adventure with an equally new crew.
