The Current Band Members are Anette Olzon (Female Vocalist)/ Tuomas Holopainen (keyboard/piano)/ Marco Hietala (Bass Guitar/ Male vocalist)/ Emppu Vuorinen (Lead Guitar)/ Jukka Nevalainen (Drums)

They have been playing since 1996 and are still playing now. Recently the main female vocalist has change to Anette Olzon in 2008, the Former female vocalist was Tarja Turunen. She is okay but Tarja is a much better vocalist Their music is pretty easy to find.

This is a great band. I like a few of their songs like Armarath. Planet Hell is a good one as well. If you like Nightwish, you might like other artists like Evanescence.

I've checked them out a handful of times the past few years because a number of my friends dig them. I completely and honestly understand the appeal of these operatic euro-metal bands--but I personally just can't get into it. Its just too...feminine(?) for my taste? That is a very vague way of describing the myriad of things that don't sit well with me with this school of thought. I'd never criticize you for liking them though. After all I listen to the complete opposite end of the metal spectrum where its all about being a greasy American manly lumberjack and smoking weed. =]

Nightwish (and their peers) do put out some neat stuff though. I may not like a song in its entirety but I can always find a little something that catches my interest. Like the key-tar player in Sonata Arctica...he just cracks me up. =]

I just love the powerful sound they have, all the time you can rock out to your hearts content, and still find some what of a soothing factor to it. Great band!

I'm more of a fan of old Nightwish ... Anette has a decent voice, but she is more suited for a power metal style of music, just can't be compared to Tarja's vocal :/ ... in other words, she sucks when she sings old Nightwish songs that weren't made for her :/

Epic songs. I just love Tarja and her voice. Anette is ok but Tarja filled in the role a lot better. Over the hills and far away one of my favorite songs! Also Marco has an awesome voice and I love it when he sings too.

Nightwish was the very first band I've stumbled on, ever since then I've kept listening to them. I even got a shirt of them, Amaranth. <3
I love both voices from the singers though, both of them get me stunned.

Nightwish is really good. Unfortunately it's not the same without Tarja.
