I'll add, that it's also rather fun to learn Japanese words. I'm interested in linguistics in general, and watching anime with subs can be rather instructive Sometimes you even notice words that are similar in other languages. Watching dubbed anime, feels like getting further away from the original content and culture :3

@Tolle : Your face looks like a heiny...ken. Moreover, it's obviously an instant classic. lol

I prefer dubs, but subs have reined me in somewhat, especially since I discovered them while following Digimon Xros Wars, which hasn't been released in North America yet. I had to settle for subtitles and I love them now! :cheesy look of satisfaction:

i never watch sub so all the anime(and sailor moon) was dubbed in english i hate subtitles and i am a very slow reader and i have 2 pause the tv just 2 see what they r saying and 2 me subtitles divert eyes away from the action and all i ever see r the words on the bottom screen this is my opinion

I mostly like subbed anime. But there are good dubs out there occasionally that I really like. Like for example Clannad After Story I thought they did a really good job on that dub. But I hate it when I find a dub with voices that are really annoying and I can't stand. (Not going to say who to not offend people who actually likes those characters.) So I prefer subbed.

Dubbed for me, because I remember sitting in my room as a child, watching Sailor Moon on the television, and just watching it in Japanese is kind of weird for me. D:

Subbed anyday! So many anime have been spoilt cus they were dubbed in english. Plus a lotta time they change the story itself. Might seem a lil tough at first but once you start watching the anime in the original language, you wont like it any other way.

Funimation did not dub Sailor Moon. DiC dubbed it first before Cloverway took over and dub it. However, Funimation awhile ago was asking on survey about dubbing the series again.

Not all dubs demolish the original Japanese version of certain japanimes. The dub for Digimon is what sent this anime-loving wheel of mine spinning, but I'm sure I'd love the raw (Japanese-only version, the original airing) too... if I ever get around to it. Meh, maybe in a few years. As for subs for other animes, haven't seen very many them, but from the little experience I have had with them, you really get the feel of Japanese culture (no one had better say "duh!") and the beautiful settings often derived from the country of Japan's surrounding prefectures. ***word of the day***

I hope to see subs from other shows one day, but meh... dubs are better, IMO. At the very least, they're speakin' my language, which I love.

Few years ago I wouldn't have thought of watching a Subbed episode of an anime but since watching all the Naruto Shippuden subbed episodes I hate Dubbed episodes, feels wrong IMO.

For me, it depends. If I feel like reading or learning some Japanese, or if the dubbed acting sucks - subbed. If I am feeling lazy and would rather concentrate on what's happening than having to read the screen - dubbed. =D

I like dubs for an intense type anime like Bleach Etc. but i love subs for Romantic and not so much action. So an anime like Clannad.. So i say subbed? I more into a Romantic and Funny Anime.

I'd have to say I generally watched dubbed anime, merely for the reason that I can't understand Japanese and don't feel like reading captions under the animation. One of the reasons why I watch anime is because I love the different styles that different people/groups come up with. If I watched subbed all the time I wouldn't be able to enjoy the animation.

The only exception is when there isn't a dubbed version available or I find the dubbing to be unbearable. -Shudders.- Then I watch the subbed version of the anime.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, both are really good options. Depending on the company that did the dub you can have something that can be just as good and once in a while actually improve on the original or make it more enjoyable. Examples being the fact that in the US version of Detective Conan (Case Closed) the inner monologue is voiced by the same person who voiced him when he was older, while in Japan its the same person who voices his younger self. Also some shows like Baka and Test have a lot of visual jokes happening that can be easily missed while trying to read subtitles.

I watch subbed anime now mostly because I can't wait for a show to come to the US, or in some cases they are coming over subbed anyway. Thank you very much Section 23 and NIS. I grew up with some of the bad voice acting, so I know how bad it can get, and some people still blame Funimation for the bad acting and editing in YuGiOh and others for their televised episodes, when that was done by 4Kids.

Seriously, they blamed Funimation for the bad dub acting and editing in Yugioh??? Makes me wonder if all dub dislikers dislike dubs because of believing that all dubbing is like the dubbing job done by 4Kids.
