Face, form Ben Jonson's The Alchemist. For he spends the play tricking his costumers with illusions, then, in the epilogue, he tells the audience that theater is another illusion, and he'll be going to fetch the author some other customers, to trick them with the latter's illusion. A character with an infinite expression.

FitzChivalry Farseer from Robin Hobb's books...The Fool and Nighteyes, also. Salvatore's Drizzt Do'Urden. There are others, too, but I can't bring their names to my mind right now...

I have to agree with enternal_elk, Tyrion Lannister is my favorite too. An amazing character all around.
I need a new signature and I didn't know what to put, so I decided to throw this in.

Definitely Kyra Sellers, better known as Goth Girl from the Barry Lyga books "The Astounding Adventures of FanBoy and Goth Girl" and the sequel "Goth Girl Rising".

    She is my avatar.

Paul Atreides - Dune by Frank Herbert
Paul is a character of the great depth. I like his ability to battle while remaining more of a cerebral hero. Also his sense of honor, duty and responsibility for the lives of everyone in his tribe and really in the galaxy/universe make him a character worthy of my admiration.
Flagg - Through the Eyes of the Dragon/The Stand/ The Dark Tower by Stephen King
The man in black as he is otherwise known is a character of extreme depth. In different novels he has different names and different motives but in the end his number one goal is alway turmoil and disrupting the flow of good. I like that he is unbound to time and his Palaver with Roland Deschain is the coolest discussion between two characters in any novel I have ever read.
Obi Wan Kenobi - The Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover
I love Obi Wan Kenobi. He is the immoveable object. He is not the greatest of all Jedi nor the most powerful but there is not a Jedi who can defeat him in one on one light saber combat. His ability to endlessly defend himself makes him untouchable and eventually he always capitalizes on the mistake of his opponent.

Hm....that's a toughie. Princess Alyss Heart (The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor), Jolie Rouge and Emily with a "y" (The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls by Emilie Autumn), Minerva (The Last Days by Scott Westerfeld), and Xing-Xing (Bound by Donna Jo Napoli, even if it is just a reimagining of Cinderella).
She has no shadows, and she radiates beauty.

Slender body, and two eyes like ebony.

Her spirit's golden, and her mind's a mystery.
