I just got done playing Halo Wars and I was wondering. If your leader of your country came up on Live Television, looking like a usual speech or comment on some problem or event, but instead something else. This leader comes up and starts to talk about how the country has waited long enough in the shadow of other countries. Next you know the government is in control of a Fascist party or leader. While he is talking banners with a new Logo fall on all sides of the room. This leader explains that the logo is going to erase the old ways and traditions and it will bring power to the country's nationalism. In the town square of the capital troops and APCs are being deployed against 'soon to be' protesters. In the Next 20 minutes you hear gunfire and all Televisions and radios are saying that the Military is shooting and killing protesters.

Now with that being stated, what would you do if your were in that country or crowd?

I'd sit comfortably at home. Usually you hear leaders talk about the country's downfall and submission to the rest of the world and no protesters going out, 'stead of the other way.

I wouldn't notice it until Sunday when I get the paper as I don't watch TV. I can't see it going anywhere though. We barely have any military to speak of and the guards wont be beating the protesters any time soon as they don't have guns. All in all I would be very happy with it as the government would be forced to step down and the opposition could take charge. As it stands now I have to wait another few years before the next election.

Let me start that pointing out that, Internet persona aside, I live in the US. That information will help.

Exciting so far. I'm getting sick of hearing about "tough times," the children, politicians' efforts at ineptitude and "great traditions."

Huh? Don't you know that the US is the star of Earth? That this is the greatest state ever conceived, in fact and in fiction? What do you mean "in the shadow of?"

That's nothing new. Been at it for a couple decades, at the least.

Does this new insignia look familiar to me?

If not, I remain unimpressed. Probably just a rebranding- you know, when your image is crap, don't change, just hire more public relations staff.
Trouble is, these statements would only disturb me if they came from a credible source, but politicians are anything but. I'd probably be a little shocked at the poor taste, though, to be honest.

What makes you think the broadcast outfits would be kind enough to report it? What makes you think they wouldn't immediately side with the government, and keep it quiet, so that it just looks like local troops abusing their power?

Impossible, at least as boldly as you envision the statements being. We'd put a layer of bullcrap on it, foreign relations mumbo jumbo, before doing something like that.
I suppose, though, the internal crackdown could happen- nothing makes it impossible. Given that they're rolling troops within twenty minutes, too, it must be pretty rapid, so there's not much to do. If they're killing dissent, then you can be damn sure they've also restricted freedom of movement and are likely forcing people either off the street of to death, so any direct action would have to wait.
As I think, though, the broadcast news would either remain silent or be forcibly silenced, there'd be no immediate way to know that the whole country had gone to Hell at once, anyway.
Specifically, I wouldn't know what was prudent unless I could evaluate just where they'd set up and how, and whether or not there were any gaps in their patrols.

Can't say much more until that's made clear(er), but I certainly wouldn't like it, and I'd probably move to some response given the chance, but, again, I can't say too much more without specifics.

i would start an underground rebellion against my country. set up telecommunications with all countries opposing mine and rage a war!! or on second thought.. i would probable just make ramen noodles and watch it happen. =P

highly unlikely to happen anywhere in the "civilized" countries, Nazi germany should have taught us all this much. That being said, I'm pacifist, so i'd protest the gandhi way, or escape from my country.

Do whatever a loyal man would do to the best of his country, join as a spy, quickly take some loyal friends to start a rebellion, BUT, not do anything, but wait untill learned where and what they're doing, then get C4 and weapons(Thompson's, Colt .45's, M1 Garand and Springfield's), take on the mission to set C4 on their electricity, steal boats and flee the country overseas, gathering a army and to then crush my land.
First get inside agian, plant C4's at flak cannons, bridges and house walls, get a patrol to take a watch tower and scout, get a few tanks and then charge the army at the city, while using the sewers for sneaking behind, blowing up houses, flak cannons and bridges, taking the surrounding outer parts of the city to then rush into the large capital, using Fighter's to attract cannons and then use the tanks to take out their Armor and with paratroopers, secure the city, taking the last of the enemy as prisoners of war, and set up the real flag, Blue and Yellow.
Hey, i just described Call of Duty, what a coincidence?
