A crumpled leaf stuck in autumn
Slowly cracking turning brown
The twig it's attached to holds on tight
It's hoping not to let it down
The strong old bark holds onto the twig
And shapes and moulds it's way along
Meanders curves and swirls galore
Teach it about it's brand new home
Strong and consuming as the bark is
It protects the inside of so much more
Nobody see's what's underneath
This fills us up with wonder and awe
For inside the giant and natural tower
Is rings upon rings of age old knowledge
Granting homes and landmarks of power
It remains throughout years, noble and solid
Sometimes called the knights of our forests
The trees don't ask for anything in return
So try and show even slight appreciation
For natures giants who guard and learn.
