If you study Japanese, what would it be for??

i would like to go to japan for college and.... games, visual novels, manga and anime

I wouldn't mind learning Japanese, though I'm sure it's quite a bit harder than a European language. Not for anime, though. I want to visit and travel there, yes, however, the language skill would be useful for finding a job there or here in the US with, say, the government. State Department and such, you know.

I'd study Japanese just in case I ever take a visit there. And, I'd totally make fun of people in Japanese while they question what I just said XD

I self teach myself Japanese. It's not that hard, the only annoyance is the soooo many ways to say "this" and the soooo many ways to say "that" and a few other things. I study it for...well because I'm going to visit Japan one day. I am also studying it because it's a cool language.

Well, it`s nice to learn another language, and it would be challenging with the kanji and all. I also know a little bit after taking a beginners class. Plus, I could watch anime in its raw form and feel more comfortable socializing there if I were to ever visit.

Can't really come up with a compelling reason to study Japanese. From what I gather, they're raging xenophobes, so moving there is no option. And why learn a language I won't have anywhere to speak?

You learn a couple of lesser taught languages, (say something like arabic and russian) and people in the government will be throwing themselfs at you for your skills.

Because Chinese and Japanese use idiographs, learning the language will activate completely different areas of the brain and strengthen connections for a person's resources in many ways.

So even if you seldom use the language, the connections will still have been activated and usable.

I live in Florida, so Spanish seems more conventional. Not that learning Japanese would be useless, yes, of course, watching and reading raw would be nice, talking to people in school, braggin rights...and other stuff.

i'd like to learn Japanese if i go there sometime in the future. by learning japanese i don't have to change any anime's language to english in tv (because apparently the english dubbing really suck >.<) and read japanese manga.

I want to learn japanese...I wish to be able to speak it so I can finally have a proper conversation with my japanese language exchange buddy haha!
I also want to be able to watch things/listen to music and understand it. To me, Japanese is a pleasant and interesting language. Pluuuuus if I just so happen to go there I totally want to snag a hot asian guy~
