What are the point of points on this site? Please help.

With points, you buy stuff.
For example, if you look at my user name and user title, they are different colors.
Also, the user title is "Owned by GameGeeks" ((I think that's what it is. Keeps changing on me. <.<)) rather than "senior member".
With points, you can change these things and also send gifts/ribbons to other people.
There are other things you can do, as well, I just don't feel like naming them off. <.<

For repping someone if you liked their post. You can neg rep for the same reasons but that shouldn't ever really be used.

Posts, 1 per post and I thing you get 40 or so for a topic. I'm probably off on the number for topics. You can also get points every two days or so via interest if you put you points in the bank.
I think points can come from going to the arcade (along with the posts), but you can also recieve them as gifts from users who have points.Then invest some in the bank, as GameGeeks said.
After more research it was determined that 2012 was the end of twinkies.
