My boyfriend and I of two years have just broken up. I suppose it was slightly mutual - both of us had become fed up with arguments, so to speak. I`m all right with this, and I`ll grieve because it is a significant loss, but I don`t want to dwell on it.

So, keeping with this positive outlook of things, why not share some relationship advice? If you had to say one key thing about keeping a successful relationship, what would it be?

I would say communication between the couple has to be constant and open, and it must reflect a mutual understanding of each others` coping mechanisms, yet it also must be conducive to the problem at hand. I know it`s pretty vague - essentially, they have to be able to talk to each other, they have to be able to accept talking about problems, and accept being able to do so in a reasonable way, yet respecting more appropriate coping mechanisms of each individual. For example, needing alone time to think about things.
