Also, honestly, Superman would win in my opinion. He can breathe in space, has more powers than Goku and can regenerate himself from our sun.

True, Goku CAN become stronger, but hell, we've never seen Superman's real strength before except against Dark Seid, and that was for like 10 seconds.

No one can out think Batman. He would take care of Superman with the piece of kryptonite that he keeps in his belt. Now to take care of Goku it will take his brains and his wallet, all he would have to do is order around 50 lbs of Chinese food and with all that MSG, Goku wont stand a chance.

Wrong.
Batman is purely human. He would be killed by Goku. Kryptonite could kill superman, but he's developed a higher resistance to it. (Superman Returns, whole island of kryptonite) So that's still not a sure thing.
Goku is faster and stronger than Batman to a ridiculous point. I mean Goku fights planet destroyers while Batman fights guys with severe cases of Post-Traumatic Stress.
I love Batman though.

Well- uh. I suppose Kai energy could be considered magic. That's a good point, if Superman is as vulnerable to that as he would be against Dr. Fate, then he could loose.
But my old stance has changed. Based on the fight with Doomsday, some versions of Superman are actually very vulnerable to blunt impacts. So I think Goku might actually be able to beat Kal el to death. At the same time, Goku has died twice. And he's just as vulnerable to dying the same way.
However since superman has been around 80 years as a character, the mythology and power levels around him have become inconsistent.
As I am not exactly an expert on his mythology, I can't be firm on deciding a victor. However I lean toward Superman.

If you take a top tier of 1 universe you could as well take top tiers from others, like Dr. Manhattan, Living Tribunal, Phoenix, Galactus, Spectre, Thanos, Darkseid, Beyonder, Apocalypse, Anti Monitor, Imperiex, Eternity, Death or The One Above All. Superman and Wolverine are maggots compared to those and to the DBZ top tiers.

Dr. Manhattan CAN NOT BE FOUGHT. Same for characters like Pheonix and Beyonder. His will extends out side of normal physics. His consciousness outside of time. Not really comparable to the "DBZ top tiers" in a word, the most powerful DBZ characters would "Get their **** rocked."

Darkseid has been defeated and KILLED by Superman. I have a feeling Goku could kill him too. He's not even close to belonging the same list as Jon Osterman or Pheonix.

I have very limited knowledge of the characters I didn't highlight.

But yeah, I didn't really argue. But in synopsis, long hard fight. Superman might (I think would) win. Possible mutual destruction.
Edit: On second thought. Superman failed to survive reentry into Earths atmosphere while fighting Doomsday. (Granted all his ribs were probably broken and he was likely already bleeding to death) Goku has a greater chance. Plus energy projection. I can't pick a way to lean anymore..

Then we would have to consider the possibility of Superman being able to powerup too, to a higher level of 'Superman'.

If Goku can do it, without a doubt Superman would just power up to become Super Man level two or something.

I was thinking today of a possible way of winning for Goku. Instant victory could be attained by blowing up the Sun. But how would Goku get away from the explosion?

He wouldn't, that'd create a massive nova and/or black hole. The nova would destroy earth instantly and the black hole would be extremely large and would most likely suck the earth in almost instantly. Not to mention, this would kill an entire planet which goes against both Goku's and Superman's morality.

You seem to forget that Goku was able to pass through a star while heading towards planet namek, and he was only using kaioken. If he could do that, I'm sure he could survive an explosion now that he is stronger.

Not all stars turn into black holes when they explode. The conditions have to be right for a black hole; otherwise the star just explodes and releases star dust. If every star turned into a black hole, then no new star would ever be born since there wouldn't be any stardust to form it.

Don't you worry about Goku, if you have watched all the Dragonball episodes or read them you must understand that Goku always survives. Even if it means blowing up the whole galaxy, he would still survive, actually he reminds me of Chuck Norris.

Anyway, I never knew that Goku had flown through a star before (credit that to my less-than-serviceable DB/Z knowledge). So basically as long as the star doesn't form a black hole he'd be good?

Because I know for a fact after the Sun goes out, it would just be the waiting game until Superman's cells lose the sunlight contained within them. That is, unless the battle was against an older version of Superman (like Kingdom Come version, for example). In that case, he'd have already soaked up so much sunlight that his powers would never go away. In that case, all Goku would be doing is pissing off Supes, a bad idea to be sure.
