    Default Feelings About Toyota

How do you feel about the recent headlines? Do you think this recall will impact their sales? Currently own a Toyota? Thinking about buying one? How has the recent media attention to the company affected your view of Toyota? Etc...

My sister is currently leasing their 2010 RAV4. It's already been to the dealership and had the accelerator fixed.

I had a Rav4 as a rental and didn't care for it. Too small.

I was never really interested in Toyota to begin with, and it's highly unlikely that I'd ever buy one.

I can get more car for less money with Ford and GM. Also, I presently own and love a Mitsubishi. That, as well as Nissan are the only Japanese brands I've ever really liked.

Personally I never really liked them very much to begin with. This issue dose not faze me much on the wellfair of the company as a whole. As for the people involved in the issues as in the car owners who either got hurt or died cause of this just makes me sick even thinking about it. I mean how could a company who claims to make the best cars have such a bad overlooking of such a vital component.

Silly conspiracy. American car companies go belly up and all of a sudden the only company that still holds consumer trust starts to screw up out of the blue?

The reason why I call it a conspiracy is that Toyotas that were made BEFORE the messed up production run are experiencing the same problems at the same exact time as the newer cars that were tagged as the faulty production run.

Really doesn't help that in New York, there have been several back to back accidents with 2005 models and almost zero with the problematic 2010 models which started this fuss.

I feel that it's just a scheme to bring back consumer confidence in American Companies while shutting down the competition that's been royally destroying them in the last couple of years. They gotta make all the money the government bailed them out back, one way or another.

Didn't the news say recently it were driver mistakes? And that those who complained were mostly elders? And that like, nowhere else in the world there were problems like that. Also heard that that one geezer wasnt even aware that automatic transmission has N besides P, Drive and R. Let's wait for final results in the ongoing investigation. A similar thing happened in the 70s with Audi, also among elders and in the end it wasn't Audi's mistake.

my thoughts exactly. the runaway Prius is under investigation and is showing that when both the accelerator and brake are hit, the brake override system kicks in and shuts the engine off. this contradicts the 60 year old driver's testimony.

i feel this is a way to make Americans buy American made cars. how many heard about the Chevy recall?http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/02/autos/GM_recall/

To be honest, while I do think that there is a genuine problem with a small number of Toyotas, I think the rest of the incidents were either caused by driver error or something else (general malfunction, environmental conditions, etc) that would cause any other car to malfunction.

The media has handled the situation very poorly. Everything that happens to a Toyota now is blamed on the company instead of raising the possibility that something else happened. Even now, with the incident involving Jim Sikes and his Prius, the media has jumped all over the story without asking about other (much more common) reasons for accidents.

Heck, I am more than convinced that the majority of Toyota "issues" that are occurring now are a result of mass hysteria caused by the media.

When it comes to buying a Toyota, I have never really thought about it. I have actually never been that much of a fan of Toyota (I liked the Prius, but that's about it). It's not that I don't like them, its just that I haven't paid that much attention to their vehicles before. I kinda like Nissan, Subaru, and Hyundai.
    This is my war face.

This is what happens to trolls who mess with me.

When the accelerator gets stuck, why dont these people put the car in neutral or just shut off the ignition? That would be the first thought in my mind if I was in that situation. Or is that just not possible for those cars for whatever reason? Anyway, I dont really have an opinion good or bad about toyota. I never owned one and probably never will but it has nothing to do with the accelerator issue

Never owned a Toyota and never will.

I love the new Toyota acceleration problem, it lead to great Internet flame wars and great comedy skits, here's some:

This problem isn't so much a reflection of Toyota's abilities to make a car, as it is of the state of engineering in general. Faults do happen, due to human error, or unforeseeable phenomena. And you can only test a product so thoroughly before you have to ship it.

And this does mean that accelerators get stuck, and planes fall out of the sky when their pilots perform some unexpected series of maneuvers, and coffee machines catch fire, and so on and so forth.

Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!

My family has one Mazda van and one Honda City.

In the Philippines, there are lots of Toyota cars on the road. If there is an accident, it's most likely to be human error. I haven't seen an accident by a Toyota vehicle involving malfunctioning parts. Or maybe it only affected the US. >_>

I used to like Toyotas, and that was in the early 90's. The only reason I did was because my dad used to race Toyota Celicas at the local speedbowl. Dad even put my name on the side of his Celica!

These new Toyotas... My grandparents own a 2008 Prius, and I saw a story on how on that same model and year Prius had its accelerator stick.

This is getting out of control.

Sig and avvie set by the wonderfully talented and amazing Bou. <3

Featuring the laptop I always used to complain and talk about in chat.

I may not use it anymore, but I still have it!
