Feelings about your name?

For my generation, my name is not common. I was the only one in any of my classes with my name, and am to this day, even in a college of 5000+. In high school, there was one other person with my name, in middle school and elementary, I was the only one.

I disliked it because of the many insults that can be made from it, but I like it's now a days rarity, it's a decent name.

I have nothing against my name (its Sean, by the way). I kinda wished I had more unique name, but Im perfectly fine with my current name.

My name is indeed "unique."
Elora, pronounced so many different ways by so many different people that I don't even notice when people say it wrong anymore. Just look over when it sounds anywhere close to my name or far . . .

I've never had a problem with my name, aside from people who pronounce it wrong then proceed to spell it wrong. I've seen it spelled Ellora, Allora, Alora, Flora (at a state wide science fair, no less), Elorra and probably other ways, too.

What really bugs me as of late is when people say, "Hey, did you know your name sounds a lot like the Mexican restaurant El Loro?" Yes, I did. But I am not a parrot, no matter how many I own.
Out of all the ways it is said wrong, most frequent lately has been "Ellorro." The reason why? Because my geography teacher calls me that a lot. Of course, my class has to pick up on that and some people just have to call me that. <_<

In the end, it's alright, though.
I think my name fits me pretty well and people are always saying it's a pretty name. *cough cough*

And Lissa, you're name isn't that uncommon. 'Round here we have at least 3 people in my grade that share the same name.

I'd choose La Recku vi Raal Wir Keyshrain Halle za Famirrad Thenraut Zien Hewitch Mireyne Das. Probably because I don't like people calling me just "Rikumi" or "Miranda", and it's pretty nice having a long 14-word name that's pronounced "Lah Rechu we Rah-l Were Kayshrine Hail za Famih-rah-d Tah-nrowht
Xian Heh-which Mih-rain Dah-s".

You guys who know me would probably think, "You're Chinese, why's your name 'Miranda'?" Yeah, I wonder why either.

In my opinion, my name sounds weird XD I know it's my name I shouldn't feel that way but that's just how it is. The first thing I did when I learned how to speak was to spell my name because people would always get it wrong, from it being a weird name I presume lol.

I have mutual feelings about my first name, Lisa, it's not TOO common, but I hear occasional ones. However, my last name emphasizes me overall according to my friends. NO ONE in school has my last name, but I used to hate it because I got made fun of it. Now it's part of my daily language and reference.

My niece's name is Lisa too, and she loves it =)

My name is just uncommon enough to be semi-rare, but not too uncommon to be wierd...so I'm fine with it.

I think that applies to my name too. My real name is Cameron, but people call me Cam for short. Sometimes I forget my name is Cameron, and sometimes I wish I had another name. Maybe a name that was a bit shorter and more masculine sounding lol. If my parents didn't choose the name Cameron, I would've been Patrick haha xD

Yes you can.
But in the USA, since were identified by our social security number, it's a lot harder of a process. One of my friends older brother lost his SSN card during a moving process (misplaced somewhere I guess). His background was: he had a chinese name but wanted to change it into a more common/American name and so he did. Fast forward to the time he had to get a new SSN card, the SS Administration gave him hell just because of his name. I don't know specifically the problem but his filing records show that it was incomplete. All that time with his DMV and the rest of his record still had his chinese name as well without him knowing it.

I was going to see if you could guess my name by the clues I gave, but I decided against that.

My first name is what most kids these days hate to do, just spelled differently: Reid.

Lindsey. Everyone tries to spell it with an "a" instead of any "e" I've gotten used to it but it's still a tad irritating considering "Lindsey" is actually the feminine way to spell it (everyone also thinks it's the other way around though due to "a" traditionally being a feminine vowel and "e" a masculine one -_-)

My pronunciation of my last name depends on whether we're talking from someone further up north or another southerner (I live in VA) people up north say it correctly, people from the lower south screw it up

My last name is Luttrell (Luht-troll) southerners try to say "Loo/Lu-trel" (ick.). I've also heard Luh-trell from some (the "el" in the latter 2 cases said like the Spanish "el")

The two I bolded above are the ones I'm fine with (the very first one being the one I personally use)

Or have my brothers name at the least which is ranked #1 in the USA as a common name. lolol. But then again it would be to confusing by calling us by the same name.

My first name is Shannan, and no, that isn't misspelled. It is the least common form of the name. I have been made fun of my whole life for having a "girls name" even though it is a unisex name. I don't really mind it so much now though.

My last name is Wallace, meaning "foreigner" or "stranger" (Stranger danger!! ) I also found out that I am loosely related to William Wallace, the hero of Scotland. That was an interesting day...
