So at some point, I laid in bed and poped an anime into the DVD player. It was relaxing and I thought nothing of it. I did this several more times. Of course without fail within maybe a couple of episodes I'd be asleep and the DVD would still be playing.
No big deal.Thi
However, I eventually found out I had developed a peculiar habit. I now have trouble sleeping if an anime is NOT playing!
Feeding this addiction has led to several discoveries, and I've accidently created a weird sub-hobby out of figuring out which anime are best to sleep to.
There are a lot of factors that go into this. The consistancy of the voices and sound effects, stages of sleep and how they correspond to those sounds, sound tracks, ending themes, and of course naturally, at some point in the night the DVD menu is going to pop back up so it becomes a focal point.
I've found Witch Hunter Robin has a great soundtrack for sleep, and good voices for it too, but while the DVD menu is at first soothing its to short and if your not in REM but rather half-asleep it can drive you mad. Bleach is great to sleep too, and waking up to its DVD menu music puts me in a good mood.
By far the two worst are Outlaw Star and Boogiepop Phantom from my collection. Outlaw Stars episdoes are ok, though they often beg to be watched when your half dead and need to fall asleep, but the menu is really short, and really jumpy. But this is completely toppled by Boogiepop Phantom. I sometimes put this one on for mood, but it can be hard to sleep through its little DVD Menu routine:
*heartbeat: thump thump, thump thump, thump thump
"mmmmmmmmm, who are you?
*SCREAM!!*
"Boogiepop Phantom!!"
Try sleeping through that XD
Anyone else fallen into this habit and have suggestions for good ones?
