I think there's quite a bit of horror anime, but it's usually JHorror. Japanese horror is pretty different from our definition of horror. JH is typically thrillers and what could happen (The Ring) where in other places like Canada or America, guys in hockey masks killing teens at a lake is terrifying.

I don't know. Does Hellsing count? Maybe not horror, but it's got plenty of blood and some sort of weird vampires or something in it.

very much so to the main stream anime. Its very popular and i must admit i do like it alot, for some one that hates mainstream.
