I played this game a day ago,but the game sucked.
What kind of game does not let you move while shooting!?
Great game infinitely better than RE5 IMO.
also wadda ya buyin?
I don't know, I think having the partner option makes 5 a much better game than 4. Lord knows there were a few times I could have used Ada's help, or gotten much further had Ashley decided to do anything more than scream helplessly and act like a woman. I like 4 a lot, though, because I'm a Leon fan, AND because it was fun getting out of the normal environs. Plus, the Mercenaries mode was definitely challenging, and an improvement on the Battle Games of past RE installments. I play 4 again every so often, and it never ceases to just be a lot of fun. That makes it a great game in my book.
My main problem with RE5 was the partner, IMO horror games should NEVER be Co-op and since playing alone is just horrible thanks to Shiva being stupid you have no choice but to play with a partner, having said that Ashley did spoil RE4 by just being a liability but at least she didn't piss away ammo.
^ It was my first, plus with the amount of bullets in the gun I could not kill the enemies in a area,so I had to resort to Gameshark.
RE5 would have been FAR too huge without a partner. If Chris had done that all single, it wouldn't have worked as well for me as it did. RE5 is no Silent Hill, but it's good in its own right - even if the ending did shortchange a lot of long-time fans. I rather liked having a co-op, but I do agree that a real horror game (like Fatal Frame or the aforementioned Silent Hill) would not work as well if done co-op. Resident Evil isn't horror for me anymore, and it's never really frightened me much. Grossed me out, yeah, but frightened? Nah. It was like an adventure game with scary stuff in it.
Ada is helping you throughout the game anyway. And if she would have been your partner, she would have been forced to carry out her mission orders, that included killing Leon. True Ashley sucks to have around, and her futile attempt to get Leon back to her house at the end was humorous, it's better than having Sheva who wastes ammo and gets killed easier than Ashley does since Sheva goes charging off without Chris sometimes or gets caught on that conveyor belt going towards the oven thing. >>; DAMN YOU SHEVA!

The first version of RE4 I played - which, I think, was the GameCube version - did not have Seperate Ways, or the Assignment Ada option, or any of that, so no, Ada wasn't helping Leon at all (at least not that I was aware of at the time. Didn't have the PRL either BOO). Also, I've never played RE5 without a human partner controlling Sheva, so I've never had any of the AI issues - thankfully, it seems.
Maybe the story would have been alot different if it wasn't Co-op I don't know, I don't find RE scary either but it always had a creepy atmosphere which I just didn't get with RE5 because of Co-op (and being in broad daylight).
I still need to play Fatal Frame thanks for the reminder.
you clearly were doing it wrong. Part of playing a survival horror is conserving your ammo, though ammo is hardly scarce in that game. To spend as few bullets as possible always stagger your enemies with head shots or kneecaps and then knock them over with a melee attack. Also use the environment like exploding barrels or whatever.
RE4 is probably my favorite action game of all time, havent played it in years though
Thanks to Wolley for the sexay siggeh! Good work, Wollz!

Ooh yes. I love Fatal Frame to bits - just don't tell Maru, because she loves it much more and might kill me. I can honestly say that Fatal Frame scares me more than almost anything I've played/seen/heard in ages, and that includes MOST of the Silent Hill series (SH1 will always be first in my heart for freaking me out, tho).
Now I really need to play it it's just hard to come by now and I'll have to dig up my old Xbox.
^^In reference to that, I was lucky enough to find the copy I have now at a GameStop for something like ten bucks, give or take. I really don't think they knew what I was getting, but hey. MINE NOW GAMESTOP, DO YOU HEAR ME?
i never liked resident evil games but resident evil 4 was the only resident evil i played more than once and managed to complete it... resident evil 4 is one of my fav games...
...what were you expecting from it? I ask because the gun took down Mendez, and it took down most of the monsters/bosses in the game with one or two shots, whereas when I played through the first time with nothing, it ate most of my ammo confronting those guys. I had a lot of fun using it, although I've never done a strictly PRL playthrough.
I might have to now, though...
i love this game, it was the first game i got for my PS2 . creepy as hell and infinately replayable.
i love letting them get nice and close then laying down some shotgun love
I have never had the chance to play but it has always kinda held my interest, when I say that I am talking about the entire series not just the 4th one mind you. So more to the point I'm going to say yes I do like this game and do know what you're referring to.

lol I have resident evil 4 for the game cube. got to love my shotgun and the broken butterfly. <3 I think the only thing that scared me throughout the game were the regenerators. Those thing were hecka freaky when I first encountered them and I had nightmares. lolz
