So Im just wondering how many Soccer Fans we here and who's looking forward to the World Cup this year as well as anything soccer related you know which team your going for or betting on and maybe whos your favorite player?

For me I am rooting for Spain mainly because I am a huge Fernando Torres fan I also enjoy watching Lionel Messi play so ill also be paying attention to Argentina ^^

haha. i kinda feel the same way. soccer for me is similar to watching golf or nascar, i'm not making it through the whole thing. 20-30 minutes and it's lights out

It's called the world cup in football as "soccer" is called football in basically every other country in the besides the US.

The rest of the world calls the American version of football "American Football". Of course, it's a French term, so proper pronunciation requires a scoffing tone and rolling your eyes as though "American" means "People with Down's syndrome". (Don't look at me, it's how they speak in France. They always scoff at things, and always roll their eyes as though it means "People with (some form of) special needs" when talking about people other than their countrymen.)

Well, like, that just yer opinion bro. I honestly think American 'football' is the worst sport ever devised. Watched the Super Bowl once. It had an amazing start, the crowd were cheering and there was an amazing atmosphere. I was stoked to watch this game that Americans held in such high regard. Then the game started and my jaw dropped. It was honestly more boring than chess.

Staying on topic, I fully expect to see Germany or Spain to take it away. I look forward to seeing how America do as well.

Spain's been on a 35(?) game unbeaten run, but I guess that's just because they've had to play easy teams for the past 2 years. That's what pushed up their rankings in the first place. Even if they haven't lost, they've drawna whole lot more.
Spanish football does have class and I'll admit, I'm a huge Spain-fan. Hell, I even have a David Villa [Valencia] jersey and a Liverpool jersey with a number 9 on it [Fernando Torres]. I am rooting for Spain to win this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if Brazil beat them. Brazilian football is played with loads of skill. It feels like a different level entirely and it's always a pleasure to watch how they control the ball!

Italy? Well, looking at the way they played during the Confederations Cup in 2009, I don't know, really. Anything's possible. France and Germany? No idea about them either. I'd be extremely surprised if USA come up though. They did, after all, end both Brazil's and Spain's 35 games unbeaten record, didn't they?

I'm a huge football fan and am really looking for to the World Cup this year. Although I'm British, I refuse to root for my own country and have been cheering for France for years now. However, with how lackluster Les Bleus have been recently, I think I'll simply root for the African teams.

They needed to watch out for this polish team because I've heard they play rough without boundaries for errors. This summer is going to be intense. @_@
