New Pokémon game in development.

Development on a brand new entry in the Pokémon videogame series is already underway and it's planned for release on the Nintendo DS this year in Japan. No, we're not talking about Pokémon Ranger, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, or even a revamp of Pokémon Pinball, the new title, or I likely should say titles, will be successors to Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.

As relayed at Famitsu.com, the statement noted that the aim for new entries in the main series is to offer new Pokemon along with an adventure in a previously unseen land. The new title will also offer additional functionality and play elements and "will be an explosive hit that crosses the previous title."

A separate statement at the Pokemon official site noted that past DS Pokemon games have made use of the system's dual screen setup, touch screen functionality, and Wi-Fi support. According to this statement, the new title will add new forms of play and new Pokemon and will bring about a revolutionary rebirth to all areas of the series.

Sounds interesting can't wait to see what this "new form of play" will be and to see if the starter Pokemon are as crappy as generation IV.

I imagine that they've run out of animals. Now we're going to see pokemon like Hitler, Polar Bears, South Middle Eastern African Jaguarmon, and we might finally get a chicken.

I may or may not get it. I love pokemon and all, but the story line is so repetative. Lets just hope the pokemon especially the starter pokemon are good this time around.

I'm going to buy Pokemon Diamond next, so I can make a Custom Pass for Pokemon Battle Revolution for my Wii. I'm kinda sick of using the Rental Pass. And now I can't wait to get the new one! *crosses fingers for good graphics!* : )

They usually add around another 100 pokemon with each game series. So my guess is that this time around the total number will be pushing 700 different pokemon.

0.o ugh, I like new pokemon and everything, but it's getting harder and harder to "catch them all" lol

Can't wait for it though, but probably have to bide time with Heartgold and Soulsilver until then. (which better be just as good as the originals were). xD
