If you do like him in that way go for it but make it clear that if you decide it is not for the best he will not give you a hard time about it.
If you don't then tell him he is like a brother.... it is harsh but it WILL be better than most things and will keep things friendly. I would know I turned omeone down saying that they were like a sis to m, and years later they thanked me for doing it like that.

You two have much to explore as a friendship alone before anything more than just friends. To save the heartache and confusion, remain friends and continue to be his friend, as much as he would continue to be a friend to you. To be honest at that age, love to me was just family as respect to my fellow gal pals. That was it. But the other are right as well. We really can't tell you directly what to do pronto, but if you do decide either or, just prepare for the outcome.

Maybe telling him that you need some time to think about what he said to you is a good thing to do. Rushing into things is not a good path to go down. And if you guys do feel the same way about each other, then be honest and tell each other. And yeah, what Vyndrasta said, explore your friendship and how well you know each other before taking the next step.

Wow...that's almost the same situation I am in...but with more confusion and a lack of simplicity. At least you're not losing sleep over it.

If he really is a good friend, then he won't blame you for anything. If he is hurt, then certainly he can get past it and continue being your friend. At this point just be aware of his feelings for you. Be kind, considerate and understanding. Then all should be mostly well if not completely.

This is easy. The only reason it's hard and you don't know what to say is because you're 16.

Do you love him back? Is his love a romantic or platonic love? What you should say relies on the answers to those two questions. I'm not going to compose them for you, though.

Friends can be the opposite sex and stay friends even they think each other are cute. I have a lot of guy friends who I think are cute. I tell them, we are still friends, just as I like it

Though the strip leaves out the popular "plan B" with this sort of thing where they guy acts all sad, depressed, maybe suicidal or whatever and essentially tries to guilt you into a relationship.

If you don't date him, he won't be your best friend anymore. That tends to happen, eventually. Usually sooner than later. He might try once or twice more in the near future, but will eventually become frustrated, you two will become estranged, and he'll move on and fall in love with someone else.
