"I Hate Anime"...Elaborate?

I've always though it was strange when people say that they "hate anime". How on earth can you know that you hate such a broad topic? There's no way you could have watched them all, how can you make such a baseless assumption? Ya, I hate anime, too...but not nearly as many as I like >_>

Not to mention the terrible atmosphere most people are introduced to anime in. The only anime I've ever heard about at school are Bleach, Dragonaball (Z, GT) Death Note, Naruto, and Hello Kitty. Skeptical.

Some might not like watching animated shows and consider them on the level of American cartoons and think they're for children. Not saying all do but some do. But I'd have to agree, for the most part there's anime for any type of interest. From the insane slice of life anime to more serious anime like Noir or Fantastic Children.

I know.......a person will watch like one BAD show, hate it, and say they "hate anime". Close-minded people are close-minded. =_= I do not get along well with these type. XD
Though I know one girl who hates it because her ex-bf loved it and it was a bad break-up so anime reminds her of him. I can understand that type of hatred.

I don't know, it could mean many things (based on their own assumptions):

"I hate anime because dorks watch it, and i'm not one."
"I hate anime because I saw a hentai clip which I think represents all anime, and think it's gross"

Although the only person i know that doesn't like it despite limited viewing only does so cos he doesn't like Animated stuff in general

What's really mind numbing is when people talk about how cartoons are superior to anime, acting as if anime isn't a form of cartoon.

Well i have a friend who is very artistically inclined and doesn't like anime because it distorts proportions and takes away from realism in human features especially in the face. according to her once you draw enough (and watch enough) anime it's extremely difficult to draw people "the right way"

I get what you mean because the term anime is just a word the Japanese people use that means animation. So to say someone hates anime would ultimately mean they hate all animated anything. Though on another note you're also right because there is far to many different types and most of them are for lots of different interests so there is really know reason why someone would say that.

The people I know just say it's childish.Heck,they even said stuff like Hellsing and Afro Samurai were for children.They also say the action is horrible,which I do not understand.

Repeat after me "it's a good thing that not everyone loves anime!" Some people just hate anime, and that's perfectly fine. They might like an anime series or two and just not know it. Imagine how terrible it would be if EVERYONE loved anime. We would have obnoxious 16 year olds running around in Naruto headbands and V for Vendetta masks screaming internet memes. I, for one am happy some people don't like anime.

Lol she's so full of it. She's just not trying hard enough. I draw in the manga and anime style ALL the time and I can draw normal people just fine.

V for Vendetta isn't anime. Plus, if everyone liked anime, I doubt that many people would only enjoy Naruto, and act in that way. That's like saying it's a good thing some people don't read only because of some obnoxious Twilight fangirls.

xD I've actually thought the same thing a few times...it seems that I like non-mainstream things, and hate mainstream things. But if they all watched a lot of anime, Naruto wouldn't be popular anymore =p

That's what I think of naruto. I've watched a lot of anime and seen a lot of things that are better then most main stream anime. You have Fantastic Children, Fushigi Yuugi, Noir, Pandora Hearts, Spiral, Black Cat, And many others.

Say wut? The action in anime is leaps and bounds ahead of the crappy offerings we get from Hollywood nowadays.

Just look at 99% of today's action films. Its all the same crappy gritty texture, shot extremely too close up and with shaking cameras distorting every scene. Its frustrating to watch and most of the time you can't even make out whats going on because of the aforementioned shaky cam and extreme close ups.

These kind of opinions boil my blood. I'll be in my ANGRY DOME!

Your mileage may definitely vary there. Me and my friends all like Naruto, and we've all watched hundreds of anime. Just because something is mainstream doesn't mean it's not good. If the anime GameGeeks mentioned became mainstream, would they automatically make them "not good"? That's not logical.

No, I'd still like them. It just seems a lot of the time obscure animes have more effort put into them. Take naruto. From what I heard it's like 90% filler. Not exactly effort going into the show there.

haha, yeah, yeah, I know, but generally speaking I don't think it would be as popular as it is now.

Bleach is also 90% filler. Makes me cry when I'm alone.

Yeah, my main problem with mainstream animes is they drag them on a lot longer then they need to be. Just because they'd get more money out of them that way. Very few anime can go a 100 episodes without becoming like naruto or bleach. Yu Yu Hakusho, Kenshin (though I didn't like the last arc) and Dragon Ball (not Z or GT) are the only ones that I've seen that have stayed enjoyable for 100+ episodes. I'd include InuYasha but it's fillers are 50/50 for enjoyability. Fillers in anime like bleach are 0/100.
