The beach moulds around my feet
Tiny pebbles moving and forming great shapes
Sea water drifts in and adds weight to the interlocked rocks
Makes the shape stay and create a path
Follow the trail of life
The bird in her motion of flight glances down from above
Souring in arcs and bends looking for interest and simplicity
She see's the shapes in the sand that range from deep to shallow
She follows the shapes and wonders where they end
Follow the trail of life
The little crab sideways stumbles into a sandy crater
He wonders why and how he's fallen in, but pushes to escape
Once out he falls into another
He feels compelled to see where these natural tests of his strength lead
Follow the trail of life
The small and large follow the footsteps
One watches over
The other endures
Both are fuelled by instinctual curiosity
Following the trail of life
They find me at the end of my footstep trail alone and waiting for nothing
The air is blustery
The sea is lashing
And there I sit with the crab and the bird
Wanting nothing
Looking for less
Trying to endure
My life long test
