You need to decide what name will be most useful. Here are things to consider:
1. Common names make it difficult for others to tell who it is and sometimes leads to confusion (especially if the last name is also common). Same for common spellings. On the other hand, they help with security (person is difficult to track down online).
2. Strange names/spellings might make her unique, but will give a lot of grief to her supervisors anytime she interacts with bureaucracy. And they make it easy for others to track her down online.
I recommend staying away from hyphenated names and anything extra like "jr" or "sr" at the end. Also, avoid names that are easy to misspell, such as those with "ea"s that can be confused with "ee"s. Multiple L's or R's can also be troublesome.
For example, "Kristin" would be a poor choice if you want to avoid grief later on since some spell it as "Kristen."
