Decided to give this new story a go..
Please sit back and enjoy part one;
Night Dragon.
The energetic rays of light from the moon shone brightly through every break in the clouds that they came across. The light darted back and forward making small cartoon-like shadows dance up and around the small town. It was a very lush green valley that laid claim to these houses. Hut's would be a more appropriate way to describe them. Large huts. Made with wooden beams, and bamboo. It was the easiest way to make homes, and they offered medium protection against most elements. Luckily it wasn't yet raining, however if the clouds had there way.. that would change.
One shadow darted a little quicker than the rest. Too quick to be a tree branch moving. Too slow to be a bird in mid flight. No, this shadow belonged to a cat. Bus the cat to be exact. He scurried across the gardens of every hut in the direction he was heading. He bounced, pounced, paraded and galloped. Up and down walls. Across the roofs. Like an Olympic gymnast. Maybe he was looking for a mouse he'd spotted a while back. Maybe Bus was chasing the light. Or his shadow. It's possible he was a secret agent cat. This could have been his obstacle course training. Before we could find out however, he slipped up, and fell from above a bedroom window. The falling was silent. The landing was immaculate. But the sound that left his little mouth as he dropped.. that was loud. So loud in fact, it woke Matt.
Matt was about 5'11 and helped his family around the farm. It was the biggest farm in the town, and he always had busy days. He would chop wood, look after the animals, go looking for herbs for medicines, and teach others to run. Of course that last one sounds rather odd. People can run by themselves.. just not very far. Matt would show them how to work their stamina into their stride, and breathe properly. He would run cross country. And this was a huge country. He did this for a specific reason.. but more about that later.
Matt's eyes popped open, and then immediately frowned. He'd woke.. but immediately become annoyed at the fact that he was awake and not in the land of deep slumber.
"Urrgh.." He groaned as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He mumbled incoherently to himself as he made his way to the window. His short hair had somehow managed to become all tufty due to the way he slept. Matt stumbled over to the window, after what felt like a lifetime. Then he did what everyone does. They always peer out the window into the dark. As if they expect to see anything but shadows.. Matt didn't and still peered. Left then right. Nothing. Now he was even more irritated. Nothing.. had woke him up. Nothing had disturbed him. He was irked.. at nothing! Matt shook his head and headed back to bed.
Just before his butt hit the mattress though.. another noise grated through his ears.
"Oooi! Hey! Matt, get over here!" A head popped up from under his window. It was Chloe. She'd moved to the town not so long ago and the two had struck up a fast friendship. She was an attractive girl. At the age of 20 she was one year older. But just as mature as Matt.. He turned and looked at Chloe at the window.
"Argh.. what the hell are you doing?" He asked with surprise but while heading over to help her in. He wasn't angry that she'd turned up. A hot girl was always more than welcome. It was that she'd caught him with tufty hair, and no top. He was lean and fit, that wasn't the problem. But he had quite a few scars around his arms and back. He hated explaining what had happened to cause them. Made him seem like a fool. But more on that later.
Chloe and matt tumbled from the window back into his room. Straight on the floor, with a thud that you can only get from human bodies hitting hard wood. She looked at him, half amused, half shocked. Matt blushed and moved..
"Umm.." So what did you want.." His words stumbled out of his awkward mouth.
"Well Romeo, she mocked, I couldn't sleep.." She sighed. "And.. I heard our dad's talking.."
"About the same thing as last time?" Matt asked trying to side step the Romeo comment.
"Yeah.." Chloe responded, and shuffled her feet.
Matt nodded and dropped his head slightly. He headed over to Chloe. Gently placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Look.. this town has been invaded before. I was here." The look in Chloe's eyes asked the question that her lips wouldn't utter. She placed a cold hand on one of the scars on Matt's stomach..
Matt recoiled slightly at the cold.. he then simply nodded.
"I won't let nothing happen to you, Chloe.."
End of part 1.
