If your fan gets broken, how do you prefer to contact the maintenance service? By phone or by e-mail? You may also answer this question for Air Conditioners if you don't use a fan.

I just get a new fan, if it's aircon then I use the phone.
Tru Fax: Princess Minako wrestled Jesus... and won
If I can't fix it myself, I'll just buy a new fan.
Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
Unsuccessful thread is unsuccessful?
Huh.
Well, I would call the service, although I personally think any kind of omg-i'll-fix-it-for-you service is ridiculous. They charge you, and just...no.
I'd much rather try to fix it myself. If I can't do it, someone else in my house probably will over time.
i would get a new fan?? o_O
You're like an angel from a picture book...
fans are like microwaves and toasters and blendrs.........if it breaks get a new one, not worth the money time and trouble of fixing it.
This thread would have gone better if it was about fandom type of fans and not A/C's.
I punch through the fan until my knuckles bleed and then it starts working.
It is fantastically unwise to punch a microwave oven. Many of them have beryllium oxide insulation, and on the list of things you do not want to break, beryllium oxide ceramic is pretty high up. The hazard is basically the same as asbestos (i.e. dust inhalation), except it's even more carcinogenic and nasty.

But sometimes that's free! I fix things myself too. Even stuff I probably have no business sticking my fingers into...like car motors and electric stoves.
If I can't fix it, I go buy another one. One time I tossed out a perfectly good cube fridge because someone had let something rot in there. I decided buying another one was preferable to cleaning it. And after it got out by the trash, some poor fool opened it...
I don't know what that was that was in there, but I swear it wasn't mine. And it'd been unplugged for a year.
I'll just make someone fix it...like I do all the time for all of my broken stuff.
Oh, Hi-deeki, imagine... your kind not eating raw fish! ^_^

Usually I'll try taking a crack at trying to fix it myself, if for nothing else than the challenge of it. If that doesn't work, and it's within my budget to do so, then I'll just go out and buy a new one. It doesn't happen all that often, so it's never really an issue with me one way or the other.

My thanks to Xey Oiz for the awesome new set.
"Screw being normal and be awesome instead!"
Oh well, do you doubt it? Obviously, I use my psychic abilities......
The awesomesauce inspiration of the Toilet Paper will NEVER die!!!
My fan has never broken, so I cannot say what I would do.
ELPHABA LIVES!!
If I still have waranty, I call and demand they make it.
If I don't, I'll end up calling friends who have knowledge of these things (hardware and stuff) and I'll ask the store how much it would cost to fix it and how long it would last after it being fixed. I compare prizes, go with the one that suits me best.
Also, I was totally thinking of boobs when I saw the thread. Thanks, akuNoHikari. (I kid, I kid. Dx )
Not everything is black and white like that.
I would build a new fan out of:
1-lawnmower (6.6 hp, it's self-propelled)
1-roadkill beaver pelt (there's one readily available down the street)
1, better yet, 2- Amazonian Elephant Chickadee tusks (I have to go to Wal*Mart for that)
1-roll of Duct Tape
1-can of WD-40
assorted nuts, bolts, and screws
it would look like this:
Question...
WTF?!?!?!
What kind of question is this?!
Sigh, regardless I'll just get a new one.

I won't bother fixing it unless I get really hot and start fogging up windows. And then I'll just get a new one, because they're only like 20 bucks.
