Well, you liked Fushigi Yugi, obviously, so I would suggest Ayashi no Ceres. It's by the same creator.

And, the second that pops into mind is Special A.
It's a school setting, and has comedy like that in Ouran.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is not on your list? I was almost certain it would be there given the length. Anyway, it's a must see for any anime fan. It has elements of romance.
