Translation:

I thought this Kanji seems like 決, but 決める means "to decide", so I thought it's very unlikely. I looked it up and it doesn't seem to have alternative meanings.

決める in this sense is to "pull it off". Basically you need to have a target, and succeeding in it would give the essence of you have "decided" the outcome.

For instance scoring a goal in football is （ゴールを）決めた.
